The centre is fabulous. At least as good as Bruges, arguably better, and somewhat fewer tourists. Enjoy the quay where they used to have a kind of monopoly on some of the food imports for the region, and the wonderful old buildings. … it’s a great city to wander round on foot and take frequent breaks in the cafes…

We visited the castle and took the audio tour.
The audio was entertaining and well done without being 'dumbed down' so it was enjoyable to go round the castle.
The views from the top are great.

Everyday after work party. This is the place where everybody meets. The people grab a drink from the nereby pubs and sit at riverside. A very relaxed atmosphere.

Beautiful Cathedral and the Altarpiece is truly amazing and worth the trip. It was very cold inside when we went so I was glad we didnt do the virtual tour. Would probably be good to do in the summer time.

The fee is 3,00€. The staircase is very narrow and steep.

Korenmarkt is such a nice main square of Gent. There are several historical buildings and also restaurants.
It is a must to look around enjoying the atmosphere of this place.

Saint Nicholas Church was the first church I saw in Gent. It is located in the hearts of the city.
It is massive and looks great!

Mixes cutting edge technology and antique surroundings.
Useful to get a hang on the history and geography of Ghent if you're a first time visitor.

A very impressive building at this place. Only build at the turn of the century but it fits perfectly to the Old City.

It's situation is probably more attractive than it's contents. It's housed in an old Alm's House on the banks of the river. We only noticed it as we were walking along Kranlei on our way to Gravensteen.
It's situated in a pleasant little courtyard through a small opening.
As it was included in our Hi belgium pass we thought we'd visit. It's worth a look.

We couldn't get enough of the views from both sides of the river/canal. The buildings are beautiful, especially at night with the water reflection!
