Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The tourguide and marine scientist was WONDERFUL !!!
I hoped to see dolphins. And we saw more dolphins than usual during off season. It was magical!!! we even saw a black dolphin - one in a million !!! feeling super blessed.

It was a great tour. I was impressed by the quality of the boat and accesories provided, but mainly by the knowledge of the tour guides!

What a great experience! The skipper and marine biologists were exceptional which gave us the opportunity to see hundreds of dolphins and even a humpback whale. The dolphins were on both sides of the boat with many young ones with their mothers.
The boat ride was adventurous as it is powerful and fast! The waves would spray water onto us but the tour includes wet gear.
    The perfect morning experience!

Me and my friends had a wonderful sunset tour with Sail4Sailing Azores. We enjoyed a lot seing the south coast of Sao Miguel from a different perspective and watching the sun going down. The service provided is very professional. From the moment you make the booking, you don't need to worry about anything. We appreciated the snacks made with local products that were offered during the tour and we had also a variety of drinks to choose from. I highly recommend this experience that adds value to your Sao Miguel holiday.

    The whole trip was amazing!!
Staff was professional, kind and know a lot about dolphins and whales.
We had nice weather and were very lucky because we saw two tipes of dolphins and sperm whales (three adolts and one baby).
What we like the most is that our crew bring us close enough to see animals (some dolphins were swiming under our boat) but also keep the distance so that we didnt disrupt them and also make sure that all people on boat saw animals.
First we reserve tour on the norden side of the island, but it was canceled, but Picos de Aventura offer us to go with them on the same day or day after on tour from south. And im very glad that we did, becouse we saw whales.

If you decide to go watching whales I really recomend Picos de Aventura.
Also recomend to go with a smaller boat-zodiak. It is faster, more agile and you come first to the site with animals.

Nice stuff and nice guide who showed us the islands with amazing nature. We had enough time to discover it on our own. Really special place.

It was an amazing experience from the onset. The staff was friendly, informative, engaging and fun. We experienced seeing a variety of whales along the way. We would highly recommend this experience while vacationing in São Miguel.

I LOVED this tour so much yesterday that at the end of it, I signed up for the Furnas tour the today. Having Nuno Melo as your guide is like hanging out with the Azorean Google for the day. “Nuno, what’s that building?”

    He knows.

“Nuno, what’s that purple flower called?”

    He knows.

“Nuno, how many species of cetaceans are in the water here?”

He knows! (And it’s like 26 species or something crazy like that).

But Nuno is better than Google because he is not simply a facts machine; he’s a wonderful guide, and it was my absolute delight to spend my last two days with him. I saw the whole island and I learned so much.

Aside from having a wealth of knowledge about the island he was born on, he’s a consummate storyteller. He’s patient. He’s charming. He’s accommodating. (“Nuno- I can’t eat this. I’m a vegetarian.” No problem. I had a delicious new lunch in no time.) He’s a great driver (which is a wonderful thing when you’re zipping around an island with narrow roads). He interacts with his guests and gets us interacting with each other (on both tours, I really felt part of something with the other guests).

Here’s the best part about going on a tour with Nuno- he seems to be enjoying himself. He genuinely likes meeting his guests and sharing stories with them about São Miguel and the other islands. He has a deep and abiding love for this beautiful place, and after a few hours with Nuno, you will, too. His enthusiasm is contagious. When I was remarking about the chill island vibe, Nuno reflected a moment, then said about his fellow Azoreans, “We are a peaceful people,” and later, at lunch, when a good conversation among our super fun international group was flowing, he said, “My life philosophy is to be at peace; if I am at peace with me, I am happy.” He said it better than that- I’m paraphrasing, but what a gem of a man. If Nuno feels lucky to live in the beautiful Azores, the Azores are lucky to have him as a representative.

Oh yeah- Nuno is a polyglot, fluent in French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese (maybe more, but that’s what I witnessed) and he switches between them without thinking about it- I’ve never seen anything like it.

I travel a lot, so I go on a lot of tours. I have met loads of guides who are great at what they do. Nuno stands out. This is a person who is doing what he loves, and you will benefit from this. He is unforgettable. I recommend any tour with him without hesitation. Go go go! Fall in love with the Azores. Nuno will make it easy.

I had confirmation for trip. Boat was a no show. My credit card was charged. Captain said he never got request from trip advisor. Blew families whole day of our short vacation. When trip advisor contacted they didn’t seem concerned about my inconvenience if disappointing my 3 grandkids. Yes they said they would refund my money. But offered no suggestions how to make their error up to me.
