- RumskysPortland, OR795 contributionsWe were absolutely delighted with our dolphin and whale watching trip with Terra Azul. They kept in close contact with us leading up to our journey to ensure we would go out in good weather. This company is very environmentally conscious and has an excellent marine biologist on board. They did a great debriefing, provide rides if needed from ponta delgada, and lent clothing to keep dry. We saw loads of dolphins and two fin whales (parent and baby), as well as the beautiful volcanic island of Vila Franca. We saw two other boats harassing the whales, breaking rules by getting way too close and of course, chasing them away. Please use Terra Azul instead of these other companies. - Zipz503Toronto, Canada70 contributionsWe had an incredible day touring São Miguel with João. We were so lucky with the weather—it gave us perfect views of Lagoa das Sete Cidades and the stunning landscape around it.
João was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience even more special with his insights about the island. The lunch included was also a highlight—delicious local food in a beautiful setting.

- Kelly58 contributionsThis was a can’t miss experience! Such a cool way to see Sete cidades. We rode the ATVs along the rim of the volcano with multiple stops for photos along the way. The two girls who were skipper and biologist were really good and we got to see dolphins and sperm whales (a first for me). - NJDaveBloomfield, NJ212 contributionsTerrific experience n Sao Miguel. Not the most challenging course (I chose the basic experience, so no surprise), but tons of fun nonetheless. The highlight was the 7 meter jump at the end - too cool! The guys who took me out were great - very personable and safety was definitely their priority.
When I return (and I will) I’ll definitely level up to the next challenge with this outfit.

He was very informative, knowledgeable, kind and very passionate about his job. He took good care of all of us. It is the best way to experience hidden gem in the Azores. Thank you so so much. This tour is in three parts: walk-about in the town (Furnas) with waters tasting; dinner at "Tony's" featuring the traditional, steamed-cooked stew; and then on to the thermal baths. All of it was enjoyable. Our guide, Joachim, was great. The stew is not to everyone's taste but other options are available. The thermal baths were fairly crowded but nice and hot. Sulphur content is reasonable and did not discolour jewelry/clothing. Lighting on steps in town and at the baths is inconsistent - step carefully! Lockers are available at the baths for 2 Euros. - Inga O1 contributionWith respect and pleasure I recommend a tour with Pavel to everyone who knows the taste in travel. Pavel is very professional: the trip is perfectly organized, the tone of the walk is emotional, the tour is informative and Pavel is an excellent conversationalist.
