This was my first of three different pineapple plantation I got to visit during our stay in Sao Miguel - this one was also the one I wanted to see the most and I loved it ultimately the most.

The highlight for me is the abundance of attractions - the grounds are big compared to other places, you can walk through multiple glasshouses, they are actually part of your free self-guided tour trail you walk through witnessing the pineapple at different stages.

There is also a restaurant/bar at the end (or simply skip to it if it's all you came here for) where you can buy multiple pineapple inspired dishes - from beer to blood sausage. Of course like any pineapple place they have their own alcohol which you can buy at their souvenir shop - all of their products are very elegantly packed and are brilliant idea for a gift. All of the food we ordered was delicious, the pineapple blood sausage sandwich was great too

Parking is pretty big and the grounds are big enough that you actually enter them with your car as opposed to parking outside - this is the REAL DEAL PLACE, hands down the best by far experience we had out of the 3 different ones. They are all a little bit of something unique, but if I had to pick 1 and 1 only this one would be it.

TIP: since it's a bigger place and can accommodate bigger groups, and it's so close to Sao Miguel you can bump into some big groups that come on the tourist buses... they bring a bit chaos to the experience so just patiently wait for them to go through and take your time to enjoy this place

The exterior is rather unremarkable, but the inside is exquisite. I think the interior is the most beautiful in Ponta Delgada.

Interesting place to visit the tunnel being made of molten lava over 10,000 years ago. On the short tour it’s a short walk on the basalt north and south into the tunnel to see and feel where the lava flowed.

Lovely sculptured motifs on the outside, cedar-wood carvings and hand glazed tiles on the inside. A beautiful church.

This was my second pineapple plantation in the region during our stay - each one has something to offer, something different, here the grounds weren't too big but you still get to see the pineapples at various stages.

The tour is free, and it is a self tour.

The difference here compared to other places: I liked their pineapple alcohol the most, and you get to try it for free inside the big souvenir store - compared to other places they focused here on pineapple themed merchandise as opposed to organic products - I found it pretty cool, and different.

TIP: they are located in a "very residential" area, literally across the street from some condos so I walked from our hotel to their location, though finding a parking in the area didn't look like a problem they do not have on "inside" the premises

This was my third and last pineapple plantation to visit - the one that felt the smallest yet one that actually had a guided tour - still a free one, you just need to wait for a time, which luckily for me literally was about to happen when I arrived.

The tour also includes a short video at their souvenir shop, which you are also welcome to visit before or after tour, or just the shop if you want to pick up some pineapple inspired organic products, as well as some hand made souvenirs.

The tour was a cool addition compared to other 2 places as you were able to ask some questions on the spot, and also listen to some interesting facts that otherwise I wouldn't know.

I want to say at the end there was a free pineapple sampling but I may be wrong - I know I have purchased their pineapple liquor and left being happy :) theirs here isn't produced by them but they actually outsource to one of the companies on the island.

TIP: parking is fairly limited but this isn't a busy area, more on outskirts of Sao Miguel in residential area - the tour actually takes place across the street from their parking/shop

We had a nice surprise during our visit. There was an orchestra and choir rehearsing. It was truly spectacular, and brought me to tears.

Well preserved historical construction combined with an educational exhibit with lots of historical features presented (tanks, guns, clothings, ambulance etc...). We would have like to have more information on the first centuries of existence of the fort, before WW2. We left with lots of questions.

The fortress houses very informative military items in a timeline fashion. You can spend a lot of time reading everything or just look at the picturres. It all depends on how much time you want to spend there. There are several buildings to see. The view from different points in the front is comprehensive.

Decent mall to spend time on a rainy evening. Stays open till 10 pm. Food court with the usual fast food options. Picked up shorts, T Shirt and leather shoes at good prices. TIP: Taxi stand is just outside the main entrance on the right. Easy to miss since the taxis here don’t have prominent signs.

This is one of the most beautiful churches in town & there a quite a few.To experiense the full impact of all the details in the church , it is best to have a seat & look around & not just walk through.

We came on a Saturday. The app showed it being closed but it was open with quite a few vendors selling fruits and vegetables. We bought some corn on the cob and some bananas. Both were very good. I was hoping for some local crafts like we have at home but there weren’t any.

During a guided walking tour of the city, I wanted to visit the synagogue. My guide had never been inside and I was explaining things to him! This is a hidden gem. The Gates of Heaven Synagogue (built 1836) is no longer used, but has been preserved along with a small museum. It is well worth visiting to learn about the small Jewish community in the Azores.

This winery is a beautiful to visit. The location and historic walls that surround the winery are enjoyable to walk around and get great views of the surrounding area.
Upon arrival we received a wine glass and a small sample of a rose. We were directed up to the top of the winery to listen to a presentation. We arrived a few minutes before 5 PM, which was at the end of the previous presentation that was concluding so we waited until our presentation started, which was over 40 minutes after our arrival. We had booked the 5PM wine tasting. The presentation consisted meet me on interesting facts regarding the island I would’ve hoped you had more information about how the wines were made and what made this Winery special.
At the conclusion of the presentation, we went down back to a little chapel area, where they had more wines to taste. We tasted one other wine there for a total of three samples. The samples were very small and combined, probably did equal an entire glass of wine. I purchased a bottle of wine and then found out that the tour for my husband and I both cost $7.50 which included one sample and all the other samples you need to purchase separately. All in all the price got very expensive and it was not clarified in advance, which made that a challenge.
I wouldn’t discourage someone from going. I would tell you that you need to know before you go and ask her a question before you just start drinking a whole bunch of their small little communion size samples as they each cost 5.00 euros.

Right across from the cruise port conveniently located for a quick visit. Small but still beautiful.
