Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Ogi0Sofia, Bulgaria22,932 contributionsAn extremely interesting aquarium. We visited on January 1st, there was no queue to enter. Unfortunately, the penguin section was closed, but there are many other interesting things to see.Written 7 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yvonne OThe Netherlands667 contributionsI’d recommend visiting either very early or late afternoon - we managed to dodge the crowds.
Such a shame the church was being completely renovated at the time of our visit but naturally it’s great it’s not being neglected.
Stunning buildings.Written 10 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - BLSilver82Ottawa, Canada222 contributionsWhat an amazing collection of private works.
To see paintings by Ruben, Rembrandt and Degas, to name only a few, was so exciting. There were also sculptures by Rodin and so many beautiful manuscripts.
The René Lalique room was filled with some of his most beautiful jewelry and glass work.
If you are to visit and you should, check that is still open as it will be closed for restoration the end of March 2025.
The grounds are also quiet and beautiful to wonder around.
It is easy to get to from the Metro.
Would highly recommend a visit.

The church on site was also beautiful. The gift shop had a great selection, and the cafe was affordable.Written 13 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lavie26 contributionsTram 28 offers a short ride through the narrow lanes of the neighborhood, passing by charming shops and restaurants before reaching the heart of the city, where you can explore or enjoy a meal. Tickets, priced at around €2.20, can be purchased onboard. It's best to board at the starting point. Although the wait time was long, the experience provides a delightful glimpse of the neighborhood.Written 4 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Katherine PLondon, UK18 contributionsDon’t miss this place when in Lisbon!! Best restaurants in the city have stalls here. - KodoDrummerBuenos Aires, Argentina70,639 contributionsA very beautiful palace, and after seeing the grandeur of places in France, Russia, Austria, Turkey, Italy, etc., the opulence of the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda is in line with my expectations. However, it is still awesomely beautiful and stately, with uniquely furnished and decorated rooms, magnificent chandeliers and paintings, and many other works of art.

Incredible atmosphere from start to finish. The pyrotechnics, the fire, the eagle swooping down onto the logo, and the football which was fun and exciting to watch. I had such a fantastic time. A true party atmosphere. Would happily come back.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA19,139 contributionsThis shopping center was jammed with people on a Sunday afternoon probably because it has stores that people love and because it is well-located on the train and Metro lines. And there is a huge Continente store in the basement.Written 30 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew ZNew York369 contributionsIt is very popular place not only among tourists but there are a lot locals having a quick bite. Many different choices from sea food, pizza, kebabs. A lot of choices of wine and beer. It maybe difficult to find empty seats, but if move around you can find something. We stopped there for a quick taste and we were not disappointed.Written 3 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA19,139 contributionsThis pretty church is next to the Se, and I actually like it more than the big cathedral, maybe because it is on a more human scale. The decorations are there, the gild, and the altars. Often there is a service going on, much used.Written 3 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- LAW64Tonbridge, UK1,790 contributionsWe have visited Lisbon many times but we had never been to this museum. We really enjoyed our trip and the museum has many lovely pieces to explore. We were most pleased to see a painting by Hieronymus Bosch but there was also some beautiful jewellery and items from the days of the Portuguese empire. There is a café in the basement which also gives you access to a small garden overlooking the river. You need to put your bags in a locker with 1 euro but staff will give you a token if you don't have change. Note that the shop shuts about 30 minutes before the museum closes. Recommended.Written 15 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
