Downtown and surroundings are really connected with this tube system, which reaches the airport and far beyond!
It's all divided in zones and one can check on the list where to go, so as to purchase the proper ticket and not end up buying more fares than necessary, mostly as a result of an extremely complicated system that not even locals master!
The fare from the airport (zone 4) downtown (Trindade) costs only 2 euros and lasts about 40min. 60 cents are added for the card itself, which can be topped and credit lasts a full year.
Make sure to validade the ride each time you change stations or hop on another means of transport, to avoid being charged in full again.
If it were not for the confusing topping/charging system, it'd be perfect - and the website makes it all even more confusing, so don't even bother look there!

There are two old tram routes running in Porto, route 1 and route 18 if I remember correctly. They are small, uncomfortable and slow but for the tourist a bit of fun.
We took the route 1 tram down to and back from Douro da Foz on a couple of days but, like others used the 501 bus on other occasions.
You can pay on the tram (3.5 euros per trip) and we actually worked out that it was worth getting the tram from Douro da Foz if you were late afternoon because the traffic into Porto along the river road is not good during rush hour and the slow rickety tram with its dedicated track was actually faster than the bus during rush hour.

While in Porto we used a bus and metro to travel around. Although our time and experience was limited, less than two weeks, we thought the Porto buses do an excellent job for what they are designed to do. The drivers are professional and journey times very satisfactory. Prices seem to be cheap as well, at least compared to our own country.

Really got to learn about this station during the free walking tour we had of the city. There is a lot of intricacies associated with the tile work in the entry hall. Ensure you stop by to take it all in!

We had reserved a taxi with another company and it didn’t show up to pickup my family of 8 (including 5 kids under 8!) and I was in a panic. I reached out last minute and was so incredibly impressed and appreciative with the customer service. We had two taxis ready to pick us up within a few minutes and they were clean and friendly. We are so grateful for the assistance in a pinch and highly recommend Go Travel Everywhere! Don’t waste your time with other companies. We will absolutely be using them the next time we are in Porto! Thanks again.

We had a super nice experience with Porto Airport Transfers.
Last minute we had to arrange the shuttles for a business meeting near Porto. I contacted Philip, he was very quick in answering and arranged everything within that day.
We had a business reunion with over 40 people flying from everywhere with different time schedules and a lot of baggage. There was a little confusion about the type of baggage, so we needed bigger cars to pick up the other guests, but that was no problem.
Then the day of pick up some times and schedules changed, but it was all okay and the company was very understanding and flexible! The drivers were very nice and helpful.
All together it was a very pleasant experience and would reccomend them 100%!

We used Meridian4people for a private transfer from Lisbon to Porto. Joseph was our driver, and he was excellent. Very professional, safe and timely. He arrived early, helped with the luggage and provided very nice discussion on the 3 hour trip. We also used Meridian4People for transport from the hotel to the airport in Porto. A different driver, but very pleasant and on time. Highly recommend this company.

One of the first things we did in Porto was to ride the historic tram system. Line 1 runs from the Ribeira riverfront along the river out to the ocean and the beach. We rode the length, spent an hour or so exploring Foz by foot, and then rode the tram back into town. Fun and convenient.

We’ve lived in Porto for about six months but because of COVID we know little of the history and have only seen what we could walk to. Ricardo gave us an amazing tour of the city and helped us understand the history, culture and even the pronunciations. And we loved the thoughtful “surprise” at the end. A great value for a wonderful two hour tour!

Excellent experience when we used Welcome Pickups to transfer from Porto airport to our hotel. The driver , Albano, was very courteous and friendly, he was on time, and helpful with luggage. He gave us good advice and tips during the ride, and when we got to our hotel (which is not easily accessible from the street, especially as this was during the graduation festivities in Porto and some streets were closed off) he made sure to go around via a different street in order to drop us off a few meters from the door. Thanks again Albano.

My family and I had the pleasure of meeting André, who was such an amazing guide and person. He was so kind to add some extra spots to our visit and went the extra mile to make sure everyone was feeling comfortable and engaged. The tour itself is so worth it, giving us such a fantastic overview of the city, to the point that even my dad who knows Porto really well learnt so many new facts.

André and Old Tour Team, thank you so much for the unforgeable experience. I

If you want to tour in grand style in a fun and chilled way, these guys should be your choice!

    Muito obrigado e um abraço!

From start to finish this is service out of the box. With Sofia on bookings and then managing the day, the chef, the staff explaining the food and wine and the gifts at the end. Great visit to Vesuvius winery and port tasting. ON the way back there is more food and drink and frankly I couldn't fit it but if you want a gastronomic day out with history and the beautiful Duoro Valley then this is the trip. At the end you are given gifts and the staff all line up to say goodby. I loved it!
