Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent art gallery with a wide variety of paintings and sculptures available for sale. 2 stories of work and spills out on to the street.

Don’t miss this store if you visit Margarites. Not only do owners Giorgis and Mariniki Dalamvelas have an extensive selection of (affordable) items, Giorgis provides pottery-making demonstrations on a wheel in the shop, and shares numerous examples of the innovative ways Minoans and later Cretan residents used pottery for everyday tasks. Giorgis makes the pottery but Mariniki is the artist who creates intriguing designs on the finished products. She also packed our purchases well so they made it home safely.

This is in the heart of the historic pedestrian area of the town, the lion fountain is just in front and the Town Hall a few meters away. The art exhibition changes so always something different to see. It is housed in a former basilica.

We have visited this place every year since 2019 and always a new piece of pottery to remind us of our stay and have trouble deciding what to take as there is so much choice. Staff are always very friendly and helpful and always package up your purchases well. See you next year

We found it by chance, near the Catholic church and up some stairs. I see others paid entry but we didn't seem to get asked for any money.
It's an odd assortment of artefacts, nothing too stunning. But worth a look. No explanations in English so treat it as a floor of pot pouri
There's a lady doing stunning embroidery of rural village life scenes. The bigger ones take her 3 months each and they are impressive. All from her imagination she said. It's worth going just to see these pieces

Ioana is a great painter, she’s very talented!
Manolis, her husband, is very helpful
Both of them are so nice and welcoming so we are going to visit them anytime we are there.
The shop is amazing and the prices are cheap, especially in comparison theirs works: a beautiful art mix with a lot of humor.
    Visit and support them!

This souvenir shop is worth a visit…it’s unique to all the other shops in Rethymno. The owner Eleni works with 20 different Greek artists/vendors that only sell to one shop per major city. You will find really nice ceramic pieces an other nice souvenirs!

Quality products. Have bought numerous products from this lovely site over the last few years. First bought in 2018. We purchased a large bronze Spartan helmet as well as devotion bronze as well as various sized cats. These products are fantastic quality and price. Will go again next year when we’re back in Crete. Yannis’s wife is a really lovely lady and very knowledgeable. Five star service

Like everything in Matala, also this workshop is more than hip. Hippie time is always there and in the vanes of a big part of the population there

I am sure I recognise this art. I saw some of it in a wild spot in a gorge near Rethymnon. It was wonderful to come upon it in this way, and in itself it is intriguing.

We bought a beautiful vase and some ceramic flowers to take home to Scotland. They are beautiful and unusual. Lovely talented lady . I would have bought a lot more items if I didn't bring so much clothes in my suitcase. Would highly recommend a visit to this shop in Old Hersonosis then lunch at some of the local restaurants.
