Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped here on our way from Stockholm to Oslo to see the rune stone. This is a small area that used to be a Viking settlement. There are a number of stones in place and the area is very pretty. It would also be a great place to let kids out of the car and run around a bit. The history is interesting as well. If you are in the area, this is a worthwhile stop.

Beautifully preserved medieval church with countless pieces of art and history on every wall and tucked in every corner. Make sure to look in the treasury in the northwest corner (left side after you enter) for amazing artifacts and to learn about this church's place in the history of the Reformation in Sweden. Staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

Check the website to find out which days they offer "Night Church" where the cathedral stays open well into the night with music and tour guides.

Valby out-door museum is a friendly and wellplanned showroom of Swedish buildings and life a couple of generations back. It is brought to life by youngsters acting as inhabitants of the buildings. Some common farming animals are also seen grazing. Spend a sunny halfday to day here! And ... no charge for parking or admission. There is both restaurant and café on the premises. The grocery store is one of our favourites.

Fun museum, especially for kinds. There was an old school, where they immediately started playing going to school as they could sit in the old style benched. Outside was a small area where they could pretend to sell ice cream and hot dogs.
Great museum about Rune Lindström. Cafe was good. Had the cloudberry cake (made there and delicious!) and coffee. Kids had ice cream. Located just near the river.
Flea market in a few buildings and a shop with some nice gifts.
Great to stop here if you're passing by. Is it however similar to other hembygdsföreningar so I would not say to go hours out of your way.

Very fine museum of Väastmanlands history, starting with the retreat of the last Ice Age to recent times. Excellent coverage + simple explanations of stone- bronze- and iron-age life including quite detailed explanations about iron mining and smelting - things we take for granted that once demanded back-breaking work but also highly skilled artisans painstakingly increasing their knowledge of chemistry, physics, and metallurgy. Very child-friendly for all levels, lots of ‘touchy-feely‘ exhibits for all ages, A bit of a hidden ge3m, highly recommended window into the region‘s + Sweden‘s past.

Worth a walk, I suggest reading a couple of lines on why/how this district's cozy houses are built this way.

You will see the entire city with the most important landmarks. Play minigolf, explore all of its history, grab something to eat at the restaurant or just stroll around.

I believe this to the be general area in Vastras that includes some of the older buildings of the town. It is nice to see the cobbled streets, and the shops. Lovely to walk around and take in the atmosphere.

This is a small building located next to the river. I’m not sure if the building is ever open, but it wasn’t when I was there. There wasn’t really much to see, but it’s a nice feature of the river and also the park located around it.

I found this place by accident. I walked in, although it wasn’t clear whether you could. There was an empty courtyard, and in the corner there is a door to a restaurant. The door wasn’t open, so the place didn’t look overly inviting, but it was a nice subject for a few pictures.

Went for a stroll around the shopping centre which is a nice place with various stores for more or less whatever you need.
We went to IKEA to eat and they have some vegan options, which is great. I had the veggie balls since that was the vegan option they had to offer at weekends. It was good but the absolutely best was the beetroot hummus.

We came here on a Sunday to find the brassworks closed. The outlets were open to buy things such as linen, glass, and off course brass.
The cafe was quite nice and set over a brook which was very pleasant.
A nice day out if you are spending some time in Vasteras otherwise I would give it a miss if you have time restraints.
