Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The large monument is really cool and you can walk up on the rock and under it to see all the intricate designs. The park where the monument is located doesn't have a lot to see, but it's quiet and there are walking paths

Finnish war hero, president and one time officer in the Imperial Russian Army sitting on his high horse has now a new work of art for company. Danish artist Nina Beier uses recycled materials to create something lasting and formed the group of females from abandonded statues. The constant flow of their tears while standing in a shallow pool reflects our troubled times.

This is a lovely sculpture, located on top of an obelisk in the middle of the market.
Its golden color is particularly beautiful at dusk.

This very larger statue is in the center of Senate square in front of the church. It’s really big. They have a statue of a Russian Czar because of his progressive thoughts and actions on items before he was assassinated. It’s a pretty nice statue.

It’s a nice statue of a guy who wrote something famous then became an alcoholic and died sadly (according to a travel guide that was talking to another group)

The famous Finnish chocolate brand Fazer gave the modern Rooster sculpture by Björn Weckström to the city when celebrating the centennial of their cafeteria at Kluuvikatu. The sculptor is best known internationally for his space theme jewellery collection including the Galactic tops necklace Princess Leia wore in the first Star Wars movie. It is still sold in solid silver around the corner at Kalevala Koru. The artist himself donated another sculpture, the Whistling townie to the city to honour the friendliness, helpfullness and tolerance of the people of Helsinki. It is situated at the newly renovated pedestrian street Iso Roobertinkatu.

This monument on the edge of the Observatory Hill Park is overlooking the South harbor. The 4.5-meter high bronze sculpture was unveiled in 1898.

The monument depicts a shipwrecked family. The father, the central figure in the group, holds a small child in his arms and is calling for help.

The sculpture faces West which has also been interpreted symbolically. During the years of Russian suppression, the political conditions in Finland were difficult.

There are statues of 4 men holding lanterns infronti of the Helsinki Station. Though it was raining hard, I had to put down my umbrella to take their pictures.

A woman next to me did the same thing to take their pictures.
We both smiled at each other, perhaps thinking, “ why are we doing this?”

Named the greatest Fennoman Snellmann studied philosophy, theology, history and languages and worked as teacher, journalist all over Finland getting acquinted with the people. He was over 50 years old when elected to the Senate but was determined and quick to get two important projects realized, language and currency. Already in the 1860's, a half century before Finlands independence he reached directly out to the Czar Alexander II to negotiate the language deal giving Finns the right to use their own language instead of Swedish and Russian. Our national currency, markka was the next achievement, Finnish silver coins replacing the ruble notes. The damages of the bombings of the Second World War are left unrepaired on the pedestal of the statue from 1915 by Emil Wickström in front of the Bank of Finland.

There are several statues at the Esplanade Park, one them is this attraction. This monument is standing at the middle of the park, surrounded by garden beds full of beautiful flowers.

There are benches around here where people are just enjoying the beautiful weather.
