We purchased our funicular tickets and excitedly headed in. On the last stop before the top, it broke down! We were offered the option to wait or to hike the rest of the way. We were quite exhausted (first day, running on jet lag), but we decided to hike the rest of the way. It's a relatively easy hike, but I did need to rest a few times (asthmatic). The views at the top are GORGEOUS! and the troll park is really unique and fun. We were able to take the funicular back down with no issues.

Visiting the Lysefjord by cruise gives you a different perspective of the dramatic rock walls. Such an impressive place.

A really cute and walkable area of old town. There are a few hills, so those with mobility issues may want to stick to the main road and not venture up/down the steeper side streets. We had a lovely stroll through this area. Cobblestones may also present a bit of a problem, so wear decent footwear. It's a really cute and charming area.

A lovely short train ride with views of the green valley. Sit on the right hand side of the train, most views will be on this side. Departure of the train is close to the Fretheim Hotel and if you book ziplining make sure that you get off at the right station (one before Myrdal, the last stop), as there is no notice about it on the train speaker.

The gardens are fantastic, came around 24 years ago and they have developed the area beyond recognition. The themed gardens and water features are a feast for the senses, it hardly felt like Norway especially as the day was so warm and sunny. My trip was subsidised but if it hadn’t been I would have been pretty fed up with my meal as the vegan option while acceptable was not to the standard of the rest of the group.

Worth the stairs, a beautiful view of a beautiful city unfolds step by step. Not too many people, well maintained pathway. Dont hesitate.

Stopped in at this destination for a few hours very nice. Just a couple eating spots and cafes. Only one road in and out. Quiet little spot to visit. Not a lot to do or see but worth the stop in.

I believe that it is all in the mind. If you are determined, then you will make it. I am a sedentary worker, have an active lifestyle but do minimal to zero excercise/training. I feared this day but it is totally worth all the money, foot aches and pains. Unforgettable scenery.
I recommend starting as early as possible. The first trail (parking P2>P3) is very steep and demanding so we prebooked for the van shuttle to take us from P2 parking > P3 parking~start of trail at 7.30AM and returned to P2 using same shuttle service at around 4:30PM (return van shuttle to P2 paid at point of return). P2 Parking, tolls and shuttle bus are pricey, but I believe one can avoid parking+toll charges as there is also a shuttle from P2 parking to Tyssedal.
We did the hike by ourselves (since it was August) and there are marks along the way to keep you going in the right path. We paced the hike by stopping for 20min breaks at every 5km. Make sure to take enough water/snacks/food as you will need it. At Trolltunga there will be a queue for people who want to take photos on the rock formation. Be prepared to wait. It was lovely to see people taking each others photos.
We found perfect weather conditions - no rain, nice breeze, sun peeped through the clouds for brief moments and wore different layers yet it still got very cold or hot at some points! Proper hiking shoes are fundamental and do not under estimate the return hike. Some downhills hurt as much as the uphills.
Enjoy it, respect everyone and leave no trace :)

It was quite a steep climb so as we went up we left behind several family members. However, it was worth it for the amazing view of the fjord and the beautiful waterfall. I was impressed by how much you could see.

The walk to get to the glacier is a pleasant one, and there are also troll cars which one can rent. The glacier is breath-taking. I think it's a must visit.. especially given that they unfortunately will not last forever. Its presence is humbling.

The office staff are very co-operative. Due to avalaunche, our Flam rail journey was cancelled and we were quite worried how to reach Oslo, but the staff were quite helpful and a bus to Oslo was immediately arranged.

In addition, upon our return back home we got a mail of refund of part of our rail ticket due to the cancellation.

They just won our loyalty for ever.

This is the highest Fjord view in Europe, guaranteed spectacular view! Just make sure that the weather is also clear. Entrance fee is around 200 per car so it's ok, maybe a bit expensive if you're going alone.

Incredible views over a curvy road and exotic part of Norway. The narrow hairoin road up to the viewpoint where they have made a nice restaurant that fits the surroundings. Nice pathways out to the different viewpoint. Well made, nice views. A definite tourist attraction visiting Norway. Important to have clear weather and the bluer the skies the nicer the photos.
