Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an amazing time here with my friends came to watch the football, the staff were so lovely especially Amelia, Kayleigh and Ange always smiling, such a great atmosphere here and the pool tables are good quality here, amazing deals on shots. They even made shots to our request of special shots, will definitely be coming back.

We had breakfast at the Fox Inn this morning and it was very nice indeed. Would advise you to book just in cae you are disappointed. Very good service and friendly. It was nice and spacious in the pub and all guide lines were in place we also liked the fact that after somebody had left their table the waitress, Rose who was very friendly cleaned it down thoroughly, wiped around the edge of the table, back of the chairs and the seat, keep it up.
    We will be back.

Great to see the staff ( Johnny Kay and Connor) being so on the ball re covid secure cleaning.
As soon as a group had left, staff were at the table spraying all chairs and tables. Excellent work, guys

Unpretentious but friendly and welcoming and clearly taking pride in a good range of well-kept ales and ciders. Nice eclectic music playing quietly. Pretty perfect really!

Descent bar with many options. They even provide different services, such as hookahs which can be quite fun sometimes. However, prices can be quite expensive, especially for Colchester.

We had breakfast here midweek and were the only customers. The lady behind the counter was very pleasant and the breakfast and cappuccino enjoyable.

I visited The Hole In The Wall on Saturday with a couple of friends. At first, we weren't sure they were open, as half the lights were switched off, and the whole right side of the bar was in darkness, but a barman soon showed up. He was very friendly and helpful and we sat at the bar and drank our pints in peace. I think maybe Saturday lunchtime must be a very quiet time for them, as I have visited before in the past in the evening, and they have been much busier. I would recommend though, based mainly on the friendly service.

Good, welcoming pub. Nice and warm, spotlessly clean and good, honest food served with a smile.
The Sunday Roast deal with three courses for £14.95 is hard to beat. Tasty roast with amazing Yorkshire Puddings.

Having been to the other pub they own and sampled some of the amazing seafood they have to offer, I thought its only right to try this place out too.
    Amazing from the start.
We were welcomed into a fantastic vibe, welcomed by the landlady who is a really genuinely lovely person.. Served some of the best conditioned real ale I've ever tried. The landlady came over to our table and offered us to put some music on along with everyone else in the bar so everyone got a turn on open jukebox night, was a fantastic idea and vibe created by the people. Myself and my friend were stunned with the amount of people yet the landlord and landlady still managed to get around and speak to people. We will definitely be back for another visit extremely soon... I think I've just found my new local.

A bit of a run down pub I'm afraid. Staff were friendly and served us promptly but all fittings and fictures are old and worn out. Needs a renovation as the place was empty.

Just moved to Colchester and my friend love to see live cover bands. Where I used to live in Ilford there were several venues we could go. So far just found the Bull. Good music, drinks reasonably priced. Efficient service. You do have to pay an entrance fee of £3.00 which is not too bad. Mix of people of different ages - will come back soon

Popped in for a drink while on shopping trip, Barmaid was certainly not a people person, place was empty and she didn't even acknowledge that we had walked up to the bar, her dress code was completely inappropriate for a sunday lunchtime. Not a friendly atmosphere, was very disappointed in the whole experience, wouldn't rush to go back

We went to The Lion as they had a live music afternoon and a friend of ours was playing. We had never been there before so was unsure what to expect. It isn’t a very big pub but what it lacks in size it makes up in character. Gorgeous original wooden beams line the ceiling, a lovely L shaped bar wraps itself around the space inside with a nice seating area round the back with couches and bean bags, it even has a pool table. It also has outdoor seating at the back of the pub for the nicer days! It is decorated in a very modern style with lovely fairy lights on the beams. The toilets are lovely and modern and clean.
I believe they do food as well however we never had any.
I would recommend this pub to friends and will probably return myself in the future.

Alright, if looking for a night out it's not ideal. It's a dated looking bar, old furniture, bathroom needs an overhaul but it is what it is for the location. Surrounded by holiday parks. Locals probably love it and for us a nice change to escape the entertainment at holiday park. Not serving food but they do allow you to get food from the chippie next door and eat in. It ajoins the arcade so handy for kids. They have an entertainment program as well, didn't get to sample that and also show footy. Good choice behind the bar
