By far the best experience of going on holiday I have ever had, the place is so beautiful. We stayed at the famous new southlands hotel, I would recommend booking there.

We had a brilliant few hours at Scarborough Castle on a February Sunday with our kids aged 6 and 9. We took a leisurely 15 minute stroll up from the South Bay, and the kids enjoyed the small trim trail in the castle moat. Good value family ticket booked online. The kids loved having their own audio tour handsets which were easy for them to operate, and we enjoyed exploring the ruins (more there than we expected, and quite captivating) and large grassy area. Views were stunning.

We didn’t time it right for one of the free tours, but a guide still chatted with us and showed us some helpful photos - thank you Andy! Great nuggets of history from Roman, Viking, Medieval and right up to WW1. Two small rooms for the exhibition housed some really interesting objects.

There were clean toilets available onsite (we’d read reviews saying there were no toilets). Also coffee and toasties for sale, and an ice cream van that I presume opens later in the season.

We were there on a reasonably mild February day; it might be hard going on a very rainy or windy day. A bit muddy in places at this time of year - wear sturdy shoes.

Apparently they do events in the summer - games, horses, re-enactments etc, I bet these are brilliant.

Overall a fascinating and stunning place to visit, kids and grown ups both loved it - great couple of hours.

This was our second visit to Playdale farm with our small grandson. This time for the pumpkin carving experience. My grandson lived picking out his own pumpkin from the patch with its brilliantly themed Halloween display.
I must say us adults thoroughly enjoyed helping carve the gruesome face on th pumpkin.
As usual we had to feed the animals and this time were lucky enough to be in time for the guinea pig petting session.
Our grandson took advantage of the sand pit barn, soft play barn and of course several goes on the £1 in the slot small tractors.
Yes it is a good way off the main road down farm track and yes there were many pot holes after the bad weather conditions and bearing in mind it's only two weeks until farm closes for the winter and they must have thousands of visitors during summer but to our family's mind the fun hours had are well worth a bumpy road. Hopefully track will be repaired before next year's opening.
A great fun place to entertain and educate children and to keep a working farm viable.

We were a bit disappointed considering the price of entry. We visited as a family with our daughter and grandchildren and expected to be there two or three hours but we had seen everything within an hour and had to find something else to do for the rest of the day.
The staff were very pleasant and the car park was free until March but probably wouldn't go again.

Took my 7 year old son to play adventure golf which is basically crazy golf but with a football. We both absolutely loved it. The score card tells you when you need to add penalty points to your score. We both had one added for needing to fish our ball out of the pond which is one of the obstacles (nets hanging next to the pond for easy retrieval). We decided after to have a go at mini footgolf which was only another £6 to play a round. As it wasn’t busy the nice chap on the desk let us have another go once we’d finished at no extra cost. Good fun and good value!

A great coastal path, virtually continuous from Scarborough to Whitby. The old railway line really skirts the coast, perched on cliff tops for most of the way, so there’s some great views.
