We had a fantastic visit to Goodrich yesterday. We took the grandkids and they had a great time exploring everywhere and climbing the various staircases to look in the tower rooms. They didn’t manage the keep with the rooftop views as those stairs were particularly difficult but saw everything else.
The lady in the castle gave us some great insights into the history and purpose of the place. We had a walk around the moat too and despite being slighted the castle is surprisingly intact.
Top all this off with a lovely shop and cafe, again with friendly and engaging staff and that rounded off the day nicely. We spent around 4 hours there in total and it was a wonderful visit.

Amazing breathtaking views . It worths visiting if you’re in the area. You can enjoy the views or walk through this beautiful forest all the way down to river Wye. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. The walk back up to the parking area can be challenging . There’s also parking by/ near the river which we didn’t know about . 😒😒😒

Lovely artists' work to have a look round. The lady is so lovely, I had a chat with her about the local.
It is in the central of town and the scenery is beautiful from upstairs in the gallery.

Spotted a poster advertising the church in the town centre and walked up past the delightful old almhouses. The church has been greatly adapted for the 21st century and this modern approach included an exhibition of photographs and an area set aside as a kitchen and tables for 'diners'. They have a CofE donations set up where you pay by card and receive a thanks by email.

Butterfly zoo was amazing. People, plants, and butterflies absolutely gorgeous and friendly. However- the car parking machine was out of order so we could not purchase a ticket. We did indeed receive a fine. I called the butterfly zoo stating the machine wasn't working. They said nothing they can do and we must pay the fine. So sad as it was not our fault! Great place- ruined by the parking and fine. We have appealed and awaiting to hear back. Unless the parking situation changes, we won't be returning.

As the church was closed we wandered into the prospect gardens.
What beautiful views of the river from up there.

Famous for its bookshops that lend it a unique atmosphere, Hay is packed full of interesting shops, cafes and pubs. Nice riverside walk too.
Here’s a little hint - get the bus from Hereford and get off at Lower Mead, Cuspp, just over the English border, and it only costs £2 single due to current English bus fares being capped. One stop later and it’s a lot more as the Welsh fares aren’t covered.

We have just been to Parkfields Country House for a corporate event during the week. Great rooms, meeting space and common areas. Beautiful gardens helped by gorgeous spring weather. Amazing dining room, definitively a favourite. Staff were super attentive.
    Great stay!

Loads of fun stuff to do from water sports, bike trails and plents of pubs on the way. If you have a day off from work in the week, its worth a visit. there are places you can hire cannons and be pickup at the drop off.
Being on the river it can get a touch cold in the latew afternoon so dont forget a coat

These are not large caves (more small openings in the rock) but we'll worth a look. There is space for 4 cars just off the road or can drive past downlands campsite to a dedicated space that has an information board and about 15 spaces. Good use of an hour with a walk in the woods also.
