Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed in the dormy house and played the course twice with seven other friends and we loved it. The dormy house is stunning. So comfortable. Tony was excellent. Very knowledgeable and shared a lot of stories and took and interest in us. All staff were really friendly and the food was excellent. Golf course brilliant and is one of the best I have played but there are some waste land areas in the right that are untidy. It should be back on the open circuit

Lots of good things to say about SAOL - the course is great fun to play, classic old links, not 'tear your hair out' long, greens absolutely immaculate. Was made to feel welcome at all stages - on the phone, in the pro's shop, at the bar.

Slight caveat that a lot of the holes are really quite similar - from the yellows, 350 yards-ish, bunkers at 200 - 230 yards, running in the same general direction. The 4 par 3s are the most memorable holes, 3 of them running at 90 degrees to the general direction of most of the holes, with the signature hole 9th a real classic.

Also, it wasn't a cheap round - normal green fee is in the £100 - 110 range, but for the week of the Open (when I played), they jack this up by £50, to £150, which does seem somewhat blatant, and quite steep for 18 holes. Also, having paid that, it would have been nice to have the option to play off the whites, which I think would have made it a bit more interesting, but yellow tees were the only option. Still, I had the choice whether to play or not, and I'm glad I did - overall it was a very enjoyable and memorable experience.

Overall we had a pleasant 90 minutes with our grandchildren on the Mini Links. The only disappointments were the number of worm casts on the greens and as we played mid morning I would have expected them to be swept and the price of £34 for two grandparents ( seniors ) and two grandchildren under 11. Maybe a sweep of the greens before opening and a family price offer might be beneficial. These two things are something to consider but I wouldn’t put anyone off enjoying the Mini Links.

Green Drive is a good golf course and well worth the walk through the trees alone. The alterations over the years have added to the course and the par 3s are amongst the most difficult on the Fylde. All this with excellent greens that make LGD many golfers favourite to visit. Personally I don't believe there is another club within the Fylde that has better caterers.
