A peaceful forrest wall leading to wonderful views and then a dramatic waterfall.

Personally, I'm not a fan of hiking/big walks so this was perfect for me.

Path leading fron the centre of callander so perfect for those who don't drive.

Really recommend this as a January/February hike as the 360 degrees view of snow covered mountains from the top was stunning.

Visiting Callander for a couple of nights away, we visited the Museum and spent a couple of hours going around remembering our prized childhood toys and some toys displayed that were wanted but never gotten. We are both children of the 1960s. There is so much to look at in the Museum. A working railway inside and another outside. Other visitors were just as enthralled as we were it seemed. Children were visiting too. I wonder what they made of it all. There is a shop area where some toys are for sale. My older cousin and her friend were going on a bus trip to Callander a few weeks later and I recommended the Museum to her. They went and they both loved it too.

Visited this wonderful gorgeous lake on my trip to Scotland. Stayed at the strathyre lodges and visited this remarkable location. Took loads of pictures but honestly no picture does it justice. Need to be there to feel the place! Highly recommend to visit.

Quirky shop and museum in the heart of town.

Spent a good hour walking around the shop and looking at the strange and wonderful items in the museum. The shop assistant was lovely as well.

Would recommend to stop by and have a look

Called into Calander on the way home from holiday for lunch. Popped into the Information centre by chance. Don't know how good they are on the info side of things, however, the shop is currently run by volunteers as the Tourist board pulled out. We chatted to two volunteers who were friendly and I'm sure would have given help/info if we'd needed it. Usual leaflets/souvenirs available.
Well done to the Calander community volunteers!

  • This is a very nice loch which may not be as picturesque as others but it has some nice little cafes and parkups along the windy banks of the loch. It wasn't too busy either, so definitely worth a little wander/drive around.

Fantastic opportunity to see 2 osprey flying overhead and coming in to fish in front of the hide so close that we didn't need our binoculars. Excited that the birds were still around in mid September. A great experience!

This is a beautifully tended war memorial that’s styled like an old Mercat cross , with a lion rampant statue mounted upon a 30 ft circular stone pillar. It was gifted to the town by Lord Esher on 11/09/1921. The names of the local men who fell in both World Wars are engraved on each of the 4 bronze plaques on the square base that supports the column. There is a rustic rock cairn encircling it , surrounded by heather and bushes. Sculpted metal remembrance benches surround the attractive square , and the low wall can also be utilised for seating.

A 2km roundtrip from the car park by the river and slightly shorter if use the car park at the start of the walk. The majority of the walk is fairly easy going, however the last part from the rob roy way up to the store can be steep in some places and if wet a bit slippy on the grassy path. However, it is well worth the 150m ascent to see the views. We took it at a leisurely pace and the round trip took an hour.
