Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an amazing time on the Highland Perthshire and Whisky Tour! The scenic drive, with iconic sites like the Kelpies, Callander and the Falls of Dochart were highlights. Our guide totally made the experience unforgettable with their in depth knowledge and expertise! A perfect blend of nature, history, and exceptional Scotch whiskies – highly recommended!

It was truly a beautiful experience, the highlight of our Scotland trip. Scott was so kind, knowledgeable and funny. Our group had 2 kids, one almost one and the other one a toddler. As much as it felt like we were being ambitious in doing a day long tour with the kids, considering my younger one was out on a trip for the first time, Scott understood our challenges and planned the whole day so well, that we did not have any trouble, while we got to see the Kelpies, the bridges, lunch at a lovely local rustic restaurant, see a Castle. My husband managed to go to a distillery too!!! And in the end my kid was waiting to meet the highland cows, ans Scott made that possible as well. Amazing is an understatement.

My family and I did a day tour of Glencoe with Scott. It was a highlight of our trip! Scott picked us up from our hotel and was just an absolute delight from the moment we met him. As we were driving out of Edinburgh Scott took us by some must-see sites and talked about the history/background. As we made it to and through Glencoe, we saw bridges, monuments, and just absolutely picturesque lochs, mountains, waterfalls, and landscapes. We stopped and fed some highland cows that were just adorable! We also stopped at a mini Stonehenge type area with stones that were thousands of years old. We visited a number of quaint and lovely villages to break up the drive and do a bit of shopping with coffee breaks etc, which included stopping at a world-renowned chocolatier for a tasting! The tour ended with Scott dropping us off at our hotel. Again, this day was an absolute highlight and that was due in no small part to Scott. He was so lovely and funny and knowledgeable that it just made our day. I can't say enough nice things about the day and highly recommend it to anyone considering that tour.

Where to begin? My wife & I booked a 17 day trip to Scotland. Having never been, we crossed our fingers for all of the excursions we planned. I can now say, without any hesitation, of all that we planned, the very best decision that we made was to book Chris Pendleton on a private two-day tour. He was AMAZING. His vehicle (Land Rover) was impeccable and incredibly comfortable. He’ll show you Scotland like you will never see on your own. He avoids the touristy places and takes you to enchanted scenery and hide-away spots that no travel book would cover. He takes you to restaurants that DON’T serve bus loads of tourists. We ran in to a couple who had rented a car for 14 days because they wanted to “do it their way.” They paid over $2,000 for the rental (check the price of gas in Scotland! 🥴), and they were just hitting the touristy spots because that’s what the guide books said to do. We, on the other hand booked Chris (for a lot less money) and got the tour of a lifetime. You’ll never see what we saw if you book a bus tour or try to do it yourself. We had no car, and when not with Chris, used the trains and the occasional bus very effectively. Chris was so incredibly informative. As a proud Scot, he knows his history, and it’s infectious. There’s no way I’ll tour Scotland in a future trip without calling on Chris. There’s so much more of Scotland that we wish to see, and I deeply wish we had booked Chris for more days. Bottom line… don’t rent a car. The liability, cost, and aggravating driving in a foreign country with different traffic laws is a recipe for stress and uneasiness (the exact opposite of what a vacation is supposed to be about). Use the public transportation system and for goodness sake, top off your trip with the booking of Chris Pendleton at Monarch. You will never regret it. He really is that good!!

PS. My wife left some purchased items in his car. I emailed him and told him to just give the items to another guest, as he was far away, and with gas costs in Scotland, it wasn’t worth asking him to come back. We went to have lunch, and upon our return the hotel informed us that Chris had returned and left the items at the desk for us. My wife was so happy. He truly is a gentleman, as well as a great tour guide.

First time in Scotland and my experience here was very good, I walked around old Edinburg and enjoyed unique places in the city. Next day I hired Russ for a day trip from Edinburgh to Glencoe and Loch Ness. Russ arrived on time and drove me carefully via country roads and showed me amazing places on the way, I took lots of photos and enjoyed his company. Thanks again Natalie for organizing this day trip.

Noel was the absolute perfect tour guide from the beginning. He was very patient as someone in our group had overslept after a most enjoyable previous night in Edinburgh (OK, it was me...but, I got up and ready in record time). He was quite the gentleman throughout our travels visiting the Kelpies, Stirling Castle, along with all the picturesque countrysides encountered throughout our travels. Noel provided a wealth of information as we traveled and was able to answer any question we had. He was quite the host, providing snacks along the way and allowing us to sample some of the finest beverages of Scotland. I would highly recommend Noel and Bonnie Scotland Tours to anyone wanting to experience the beauty and history of Scotland.

We had a time to remember on our tour with John of Macleod Heilan Tours. He was thoroughly knowledgeable in all things Scotland and historical. He made sure we saw the most we could possibly see, never letting the weather deter us, and got along well with everyone in our family as well as everyone we met along the way. Highly recommend John for any tour of Scotland, you won't regret it.

This tour was by far the best tour!We were greeted by James wearing his authentic family kilt. If you are lucky enough to have James as a tour guide, prepare to be mesmerized. He is a guide/historian/ soon to be famous actor/ photography expert/ kind human being all rolled into one individual. On this tour you we were taken to the beautiful Stirling Castle, to beautiful lochs, to feed highland coos, and so much more! Our group cannot stop talking about how exquisite this tour was. We cannot wait to plan another vacation in Scotland. We will be calling Alba Tours !

My family and I booked a private tour of Loch Lomond, Oban, and Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands, and it exceeded all our expectations.

Our guide, Noel, was an absolute gem. He picked us up in a comfortable van and instantly made us feel at home with his friendly banter and Scottish humour. He really knew his stuff and shared fascinating stories about the history and legends of the places we visited.

First stop was Loch Lomond, and I have to say, the beauty of this place left us all speechless. The crystal-clear waters and the stunning landscapes were like something out of a fairy tale. Noel took us on a short hike and even found the perfect spot for a picnic. We were surrounded by the awesome beauty of the Highlands, and it was a moment we'll never forget.

Then we headed to Oban, and boy, did we indulge in some delicious seafood, Noel had Fresh Oysters arranged especially for us! We went to a colluseam monument overlooking the charming coastal town and its harbour.

Finally, we reached Glencoe, and this place was simply awe-inspiring. The mountains and dramatic scenery were something straight out of a Hollywood movie. Noel told us all about the dark history of this Glencoe. We had plenty of time out of the van to explore this epic landscape.

All in all, this tour was an absolute highlight of our trip to Scotland. The personalized experience, the stunning locations, and Noel's fantastic company made it unforgettable. We're heading back to the States with incredible memories and a newfound love for Scotland. If you're visiting, do yourself a favor and book this tour with Bonnie Scotland Tours!
