Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Called into this pub while on a real ale trip. This really different pub made out of a double fronted shop was a great place for a real ale or cider drinker. Personal service by the boss, the real ale, Single Cask and Bridge bitter was top quality.
Locals were very friendly and the leather sofa very comfortable. No wifi or tv gave customers the chance to talk.
Boss was very knowledgeable about the real ale pubs in the area and tan us a taxi to take up to the other side of town.
    Will definitely go again

I went with a group of 12 for a meal in June such a pleasant place to visit. The staff are so polite and friendly and the meal. Wow. I can honestly say this is the best place I have ever been, the meals are all freshly prepared, the vegetables (which I normally put a small amount on my plate and cover in mint sauce) was prepared and cooked like I've never tasted before I ate them not only without mint sauce but had more. They give generous portions of vegetables. Out of the 12 meals that was made all 12 plates was clear (which is unusual with any group of that size) . We really enjoyed being there and went the following week. I honestly would recommend this place but I would ring to book as they have limited space and check their opening times. We'll done to the Chef and to all who work there

So happy to have found this little gem hidden away in the heart of Newcastle Under Lyme! A great spot to meet for pre drinks and to catch up with friends. Cosy atmosphere and beautiful decor. Will definitely be returning for the signature Poppy Rose cocktail!

We stayed here as a base for visiting family and friends. Met by the manager/owner who showed us to our room, explained where everything was and how to access the room late night as we were attending a party. The bed was large, clean, with crisp white linen and really comfortable. We slept well. The bathroom was clean. Had everything needed, whether a shower or a (corner) bath was wanted. Shower gel provided and fluffy towels on hand. The room had amazing pictures, depicting Stokes history and the overall decor was traditional with a hint of modern. Great beverages in room! Organic tea and coffee plus a mini fridge with FRESH milk provided…..a great touch! Bottles of spring water and also a fan/heater to make sure all comforts were seen to if needed. There were books to read, a good info folder with contact names for the owners, taxi firms etc. outside our room was an iron and ironing board which we made use of. All in all, a perfect stay and now our ‘go to’ for any trips to see family.

Less than £20 for three courses for two people from the lunchtime menu.

I had nachos, pie and apple pie with custard. My friend had mushrooms, pie and treacle sponge.

    We both enjoyed our meals!

Tucked away down an alley off The Ironmarket, this excellent bar is well worth seeking out. Ideal place to chill out midweek with either a cask ale, craft keg beer or one of the many unusual bottles or cans. The beer quality is very good and there are always beers from rarely seen independent brewers. The staff are very knowledgable and always willing to give a small taster of the draft beers.

Been here a few times. There is always a good range of real ales. They also serve a good range of wine, well kept. It is spotlessly clean even when horrendously busy. Well worth a visit

Never been before but hubby and friend wanted to see it, lots of friends said you have to go. I'm not a keen Beatles fan but that doesn't stop me having a drink. Was told it was quite expensive for drinks but we found it reasonable. Was singer on, was a bit loud downstairs and very crowded, but moved upstairs very nice, and you must go see Penny Lane, very impressive and I would go again!

Wow, I’m a well traveled guy who originates from Knutton. First ‘post Covid’ visit back to Silverdale. A Massive well done to the owners of the Vine 👏. Has a regular leader of cyle trips to W W1 commonwealth graves in Belgium France and Holland I felt so at home in a pub that both remembers and acknowledges this time in their decor. Best pub I’ve been to in England for their massive efforts to remember “Tommy”. Well done the Vine and by the way the staff are the friendliest people we’ve met on our return to the potteries.

As this was my first visit to Hogarths, I was impressed by the large selection of gins available and their extensive cocktail menu.

Service was quite slow and there were many empty glasses around. Having only two staff members on the bar on a Saturday lunch was quite poor. Though the inside of the bar is nicely decorated, it is not overly clean (wet, sticky tables).
It is also ruined by the large TVs showing sky sports.

Other than that prices are reasonable.
