Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We absolutely love Seaham.we come by train & it’s a lovely little walk to the beaches.my son loves to look for sea glass etc.we did have a lovely walk to blast beach we’re part of ‘get carter’ and ‘alien3’we’re filmed but he didn’t find any treasure so glass beach remains his favourite although I did get some lovely photos of the orangey/red water there. If your a sea glass collector too,we bought a great little pocket size book from the lifeboat centre about seaham sea glass.I highly recommend a visit to the lifeboat shop & also the lovely little gift shop on the marina too.Visiting Tommy is also a must and admiring the beautiful seats along the seafront.stunning.

I had a wonderful walk on Blackhall Beach this afternoon .
A huge, clean beach. Hardly anyone about .
Easy free parking, nice paths down onto the beach . No litter .
Signs of the coal heritage of the beach .

Very good for dramatic photo opportunities.

    Great for Labrador’s

My 11 years old son had wonderful birthday party in Durham climbing centre. We had a very professional coach Ben, he kept the kids entertained throughout while teaching climbing skills, Jess is a very organised, lovely, friendly party host. They provided variety, delicious food, healthy fruits and vegetables, the kids love them. Everybody had a brilliant time. we are very impressed, excellent service, highly recommended.

Booked this course through golfnow & got a great deal! We hired a buggy, staff in the pro shop were very helpful & showed us the layout of course & any other tips that would make our game enjoyable!! The course itself is very well maintained lots of trees and water with spectacular views throughout the game & as a newbie to golf I found it challenging next time in Durham I hope to play cathedral course! Thanks to all staff at ramside golf as it was a very busy Sunday but you went out of your way to be very helpful!!

Booked an experience clay pigeon shooting and off-road 4x4 driving - it was absolutely amazing! Top banter from Chris, the instructor, who kept us entertained all day. Despite me having zero coordination, under his guidance I managed to hit some clay pigeons. His instruction for the 4x4 driving was faultless, it was scary at times but had complete faith in him . . . Would highly recommend these experiences with this SAS - a top day out that you won't forget!

Absolutely disgusting the price the golf course charges for being open a mere 8 month of the year. Since November 2023 it's maybe been open (over both courses) for 18 holes about 2 weeks. When questioned around any potential discount you are scoffed at by the 'Director of Golf' who has zero golfing background. 'It would've been closed anyway' you're told. Then they send out membership renewals and they have the nerve to put the prices up!! Lots of members are leaving for Wearside or other surrounding golf courses. Don't get me wrong, there is no better place to play during the summer, but in the winter it's pathetic. Manages to stay closed when others are open, and just this weekend (it's Friday), they have made the decision to just close the course until a further inspection on Monday, but they will charge you £1150 a year for the privilege. This golf club needs a proper golf director in charge, someone who actually cares and the drainage seriously needs to be addressed. You're made to feel like you can't complain about the conditions, when you're paying that much a year, you're well entitled to your opinion. Also as it's a 'stay and play' type of place, they will happily block out busy weekend periods at the expense of members, too money driven and they don't really care about members.
Tip:Don't join - or if you do, get a flexi membership where you can use all your points during the summer months

I went with some friends and family to try out fly fishing for the first time and we had a really brilliant experience. Our guides, Stuart and Rachael, were kind, patient and obviously experienced and passionate about their fly fishing.Despite this being our first time, most of us caught something. At one point I was frustrated that I hadn’t caught anything yet, Rachael was patient and encouraging until I caught a fish.
I would definitely recommend; The guides taught us extremely effectively and the view was beautiful.🐟🐟🤩🤩

We had a sunny afternoon to enjoy the river and the boat offered what it said on the tin: about an hour of floating through the green riverbanks, seeing some buildings of note and getting a bit of local history from the commentary. The bridges are lovely and the views of the cathedral worthy of a photo. Enjoyable though not inexpensive.

We loved every minute in the forest adventure. Lovely member of staff and just as lovely as the ice-cream and coffee shop staff too. She has to speak to all visitors,( as we know being very frequent guests) with advice on health and safety, it changes daily due to the weather. Some very rude people , who questioned the food/picnic rule. I'm embarrassed for them as it is very clear these are the ones that we see in the forest, clearly not following them. Reading some of the reviews previously, it shows just how childish and rude these grown ups are when they are forced to listen to them. We bantered all day with the forest lady about the picnic war, all in good humour.Good on the forest person who gave clear instructions. About time, I say. We have had to sit back and watch the rule breaker's for many years.
The family and all the staff work so hard. It's such a shame these negative childish reviews are allowed to be posted. Keep up the hard work. It's a beautiful magical place.

As far as finish lines go for parkruns, Durham has to be up there with the best!
Riverside paths, views of Durham Cathedral, mixture of paths, grass, Tarmac, riverside - something for everyone!!
Brilliant friendly team as well. Very encouraging.
All in all a pretty awesome parkrun! 👍
