Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Linda PChertsey, UK24 contributionsLovely place to visit, for everyone at any age. Free entry, car park, cafe & shop.
You can donate to the sanctuary, adopt a donkey to help with their care.
Was able to stroke all the donkeys we met, they are so friendly.
Its also dog friendly & its nice seeing the donkeys engage with the dogs.Written 27 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was quite scary as an adult, let alone a child! Evolution drop tower was also fun and gave a good view across the park and coastline. The water slides are great too. Walking through the vortex was such an experience I had to repeat it! All in all an enjoyable 5 hours.Written 3 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AJMacDLondon, UK465 contributionsThe park is beautifully maintained. We spent a pleasant hour wandering around. The water features are particularly attractive but there are paths up to higher ground with views over the sea.Written 19 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alexandra GBirchington, UK491 contributionsInspired by the Reviews on here, I took the bus from Shanklin to Boniface Shute and walked down to Boniface Old Church. This is a steep road but has the unexpected delight of many of the houses identified as being where famous author's stayed. The church itself is a quick pop-in really. It was built in 11th century, on the foundations of a Saxon wooden church it is believed. Not much to see (I think other reviewers have rather over-rated the experience), but nevertheless a nice objective for a walk which I suggest is continued through the woodland down to the beach where there is a working pottery. The toilets were locked so I carried on towards Ventor which made a lovely walk to pick up the bus again and return to Shanklin.Written 10 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - uckfieldadvisorUckfield, UK47 contributionsLovely wander around the gardens- virtually empty of visitors. Enjoyed brunch in the cafe, very attentive and helpful staff.
Only issue was that the doors to the shops were propped open, so all the heat was lost. I closed it only for the staff lady to come back in and open it again.Written 21 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mary F12 contributionsIf you are fit enough to climb up and down the steep stairs at the Devil's Chimney, you will be richly rewarded. The landslip area is jungly old growth forest unlike anywhere else on the Island.Written 4 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BundyClubBundanoon, Australia541 contributionsThis is a small heritage museum located in a former shop in the Ventnor shopping area. It has a well organised display of the town history with some very interesting historic photographs. Volunteer staff were in attendance and they seemed willing to answer questions. If you have some time when visiting Ventnor, this is worth a look-in.Written 7 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Branko VStevenage, UK1,127 contributionsThe Parish Church of St. Lawrence was built in 1876, it has plenty of nice stained glass windows. This replaced the tiny ‘Old Church, which is a few hundred meters away.Written 11 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HazzaNorfolkUpwell, UK148 contributionsA great museum with a fabulous gift shop. If you’re after some locally found fossils then this is the place, especially fossilised lobsters. Reasonable prices too. Lots of stuff in the shop to browse.Written 20 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - fromKenttoabroadKent330 contributionsI don't run but my other half does. As she runs to Bonchurch I walk and can tick off the solar system, photographed in past years. - Steven P49 contributionsThis is located part way along the esplanade. Small monument which would be good as a meeting place.Written 9 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- scoobydogbrownChichester, UK10 contributionsOur 2 night stay at The Cabin was absolutely wonderful, mainly because of its superb location but also because the accommodation itself is pure luxury. Everything has been catered for and we wanted for nothing. The view from the Ocean Suite is stunning and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach were so relaxing. Our hosts Oliver and Rowena were very welcoming and helpful. We had a couple of extra items which were there upon our arrival - a beautifully prepared "Grazing Platter" with Champagne and the following morning a "Breakfast Platter" which meant we didn't have to leave the Suite that day - sheer bliss! We are already planning a return visit, can't wait!Written 25 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
