Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A really tasty Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day heading home after a family birthday weekend. Lovely sausage nibbles as an appetiser. Great quality beef and lamb followed by exquisite toffee pudding.

The service was really good - very attentive staff.

After leaving Knowle park, we came across a sign post to the White Rock Inn 1.25 miles down a winding country lane. Nice atmosphere and surprisingly busy for a pub out in the sticks. Ala carte menu and menu of the day and a chalk board suggesting Mussels as a main or starter. We both had Gammon, which was very nice but I saw someone else having Liver, bacon, mash and onion gravy which I will have on my next visit.

We had a couple of mid week drinks here and really enjoyed them. They've converted the carpark into socially distanced tables. Good selection of beets.

My wife and I visited with our young son (5yrs) for a Sunday lunch.

Meal was pleasant but I would say it was satisfactory which is basic.

We both opted for a roast but neither came with the advertised Yorkshire Pudding.

    It was ok.

We are a visiting of group of 40 people who were attending a social activity in the area. We booked the Chequers pub to provide us with a buffet and drinks afterwards. We all had a wonderful time at the pub. The service and the food was excellent, as was the range of beers. Everyone had a great time. This is the second time we have booked the Chequers pub to look after us and we will certainly be returning again. I can wholly recommend this pub for a visit,

I live in the US but I grew up in and around Sevenoaks, attending Sevenoaks School and generally frequenting the area. Much has changed in the intervening years (I am now 54) but, thankfully, The Anchor seems to have been immune. Whether or not you think this is a good thing is up to you, but I love finding pubs like this that still seem to thrive.

I came here to meet an old friend from the aforementioned school days and we spent a delightful 4 hours. We whiled away the time sampling the wonderful Kentish Ale and delightfully, playing darts. Why did pubs ever lose their dartboards? It makes such a change to find a games area (there was also a pool table and a games machine in a separate area that also houses the only TV. This is great. It keeps the games and those wanting to watch TV away from the main bar area. It looks as though the TV is reserved for sports, and when the live sports ended this day, it was soon turned off.

This is truly a throwback in pubs. You enter through the front door that is in the shape of a crescent, into the small bar where I was promptly greeted by Barry and engaged in conversation whilst awaiting my friend. All the bar staff with whom we interacted were similarly friendly and helpful. We borrowed darts from those kept behind the bar for our game. No frills here and all the better for it - I love places like this and was delighted to find they still exist.

In addition to the good ale, they have a decent bar menu and I sampled the steak and ale pie for which they are deservedly renown. It was really excellent. Good solid pub food just topped off the visit, it was great. If you are a fan of the flashy, glitzy Wetherspoon establishments this is not the place for you. There is nothing wrong with them of course, but this is far preferable in my estimation. A lovely afternoon spent here post Christmas

Inside, televisions galore and very much catering for that sort of customer. Quite a few big groups in. Very large undercover beer garden so can cater for a lot of patrons.

Best aspect was the friendliness of the staff and I believe the manager who all gave the impression nothing was to much fuss and wanted to attend to us all the time. Very noticeable how friendly this came across and that in itself was very impressive.

Cannot comment on food as did not have any. Drinks menu relatively good.

Visiting an old friend von Kent who suggest a beer and lunch at this local pub. Nice location just off the village green it looks quite unassuming and inside has an old fashioned charms of a village pub. However don't be fooled by the appearance. This pub has a good kitchen and we had a very good 3 course lunch of Black pudding potatoe cakes, followed by mussels and a cheese plate. All washed down by very good ale from the good selection on offer. (must get someone else to drove next time! ).
If in this area it is worth a stop :-)

This place has only just opened again, they have a good sized bar but it’s a very small venue. They had a DJ playing music which was pretty loud and a smoke machine that was not really needed. They should concentrate on the social side more than making it a night club.
