Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Bill MNorth Ferriby, UK133 contributionsExtension of walk from Helen’s bay into the country park and cafe.
Easy enough walk along the beach on well maintained paths with wonderful sea views and ships on the lough.
Free parking and well signed path. Access to railway station and so worth a visit.
Well kept and a great place to visit.Written 16 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Through a wooded area and there is the walled garden. Lovely plants, a wildflower area and willow arches. Very well kept. There is also a cafe and toilets on site.Written 1 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Matt WardAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates62 contributionsA lovely little park offering some small rides for the younger ones.
It’s clear some work has been put in recently to improve the offering and we had a great time riding the log flume, Pedal swans and the Pickie puffer - I do just feel very sorry for the poor chap who has to walk behind the pickie puffer all day - get him a guards carriage!Written 19 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The marina is very pretty and full of a varied selection of boats . Nice to stroll around it is also home to Pickie park which is worth a visit .. only downside is the very unsightly buildings/ vacant space across the road but I’m led to believe that there are major plans for redevelopment . Bangor is not quite Tobermory but it could be .Written 10 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Bill MNorth Ferriby, UK133 contributionsWonderful effort to provide a history of the region and a must visit for anyone interested in Irish history.
All exhibits are well presented with narrative and graphics in light filled rooms. Admission is free and access good.
Just visit and see for yourself. The cafe next door is a new built glass construction and fits nicely in the old courtyard with great coffees and food.Written 16 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The play park could be bigger! The kids enjoyed the swings anyway.
The beach is dirty which you notice more when sitting playing in the sand with the kids. Lots of dog s**t everywhere covered in sand so difficult to see until you start building sandcastles. Disgusting!
There were dogs off-lead even though it’s June! The dogs just walked right through the kids playing trampling their sandcastles & almost knocking them over.
Dog owner looked straight ahead and marched on as if nothing was amiss.
This beach needs ‘staffed’ during June-August & I would be happy to pay a small fee to cover that if it meant a safe clean beach to play on with the kids, with longer toilet opening hours & a food truck for teatime!Written 8 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - christy1955Dublin, Ireland10 contributionsLovely park, great cafe, Bowling greens, kids playground, free parking bedside cafe. - deirodeirBangor, UK143 contributionsThis is part of a coastal walk from Donaghadee to Holywood, and is usually called just the Coastal Path by locals. Beautiful views of Belfast Lough, looking across to the Antrim Hills, from the undulating paved path. Popular with walkers (with and without dogs) and joggers, and some cyclists, the latter on mountain bikes who frequently treat it as a race course. Incredibly, there are plans to widen the path and encourage cycling, so make the most of the pleasnt path as it is now, in case this error of judgement comes to pass.Written 7 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CardinalBazCounty Down, UK134 contributionsI'm not a fan of indoor Karting tracks but this is as good as they come and I suppose you can go whatever the weather.
He also has room2race which is worth a look although I thought it was a little o. The pricey side and the bikes are too light to be. Authentic racing feel.Written 12 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - therichastillStevenage, UK3,348 contributionsCastle Park is surrounding Bangor Castle and can be seen from the railway station when you arrive and there is a road that takes you down the hill and this is next to the park.
I would definitely recommend taking a walk through the woods behind the castle towards the Walled Garden as it is really beautiful. There are loads of lovely trees and shrubs. I visited in May 2024 and they were in bloom making for some wonderful scenery.
Whilst I was there I saw plenty of people walking their dogs as well as runners and other walkers like me.
A superb place to spend an early evening.Written 29 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
