Beautiful castle and grounds, lovely little gift shop and the cafe was fantastic! Always had a soft spot for this wee castle since a child and love visiting it. Staff were helpful and polite and we had a lovely afternoon!

We were disappointed to find the castle was closed but the walled garden made up for it .. covered in flowers from end to end you could tell a lot of time and care was given to every bed. And we would drive out there again just to see the beautiful sweet peas, endless roses and every color of the rainbow Dalia’s…. What a sight to see

We stay at the Toll Bridge Lodge every year which is opposite the Falls.Beautiful area and close to Banchory. There is a free car park and toilets on the opposite side to us and you can spend hours watching and waiting to see salmon leap.

Visited as part of a coach tour. Wasn't sure what to expect but I loved it. Although it is a very small farm the owner is so enthusiastic about her herd it rubbed off on us all. We were allowed to comb 'Duchess' which was great and I have to say this was one of the highlights of our weeks holiday.

Went for a walk up Scolty Hill in November '23 with a few friends. There are car parking charges with £2.50 for 3 hours or £3.00 for the full day. However, you can pay on Ringo if you do not have any change (although the Ringo prices are more expensive than just paying using coins at the machine).

Weather was not great which made parts of the path very slippy and in some areas, flooded but was a very easy hike nonetheless with the round trip being just short of 3 miles taking the steeper path there and looping round on the more gradual path on the way back down. It took us around an hour and a half all in including a break at the top. This was at a very easy pace.

The hike is well signposted and very easy to do for someone who is even partially active such as myself!

Came to the Barn for an evening gig (traveled from Aberdeen city center via car). The venue was well sign posted when coming off the main road which was helpful!
The venue was beautiful, perhaps original brick work on interior but with modern touches which felt cosy and well maintained.
The staff were so friendly and warm, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
Good bar in the venue area with a range of non alcoholic options including teas and coffees (ideal for those driving from afar).

The gig itself was really brilliant - a reading combined with a musical performance, with a really proffesional set up / sound quality etc yet still very intimate.
If this is the usual standard for shows here we'll definitely be returning. Thanks for a lovely evening 😊

This station is the base for the Royal Deeside preserved railway operated by volunteers. It contains a small visitor centre and shop associated with the railway. It is located adjacent to the Milton on Crathes Centre which contains a number of small traditional shops and a restaurant all based in preserved buildings. The station and whole complex is worth a visit whilst in the area.

The biggest problem was finding the entrance, eventually resorted to asking in the library for directions, a very small museum with minimal opening hours but if you can find it pop in for a look around.

This is a most picturesque spot to stop and take in the glorious scenery of Royal Deeside. There is a parking area right beside the bridge, and also one over the bridge beside The Potarch Cafe. The lovely old stone bridge itself was built back in 1811 by the famous civil engineer Thomas Telford, whose bridges were built to last. There are a great many walks to choose from here - meandering either alongside the river Dee, or veering off into the forestry. The river itself is a great draw in the summer months for cooling off.

These woods are within walking distance for us so we use these woods to walk our dogs now and again. Nice and quiet, just the occasional horse trekker or other dog walker. I'm sure you will come across cyclists from time to time as there is an off-track mountain bike run near the top of the hill.
