Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was told that the lake would be frozen in Dec, but it is not true. The lake water is still very much alive. What a great hike and great view, awesome !

Cable car to the top of the Gemmi pass leads to a very pleasant walk around the Daubensee lake. Proper walking shoes required for some parts of the walk. Terrific views from the Gemmi Lodge and an excellent restaurant as an extra. Plenty of other walks, including to the glacier, available at the Gemmi pass.

This is an interesting hike with a climb that offers stunning views. If you are prepared to put the effort in the trail can be enjoyable but it is not for inexperienced hikers

My 12-year-old son and I had an amazing time. My wife took the cable car up and met us on top. Gear rental available at lift station. Fix gear is in excellent condition. If you understand how to use the gear properly, it is quite safe; you're always tethered securely to the wall (except one short, safe walking section just before the twisted ladder). If you don't know what you're doing, hire a guide. If you're terrified of heights you have no business here. This route is a grade 4 of 5, so first-timers might consider an easier via ferrata like the Eiger Rotstock, which is also wonderful, but not as challenging or exposed. Once you're on the route, backing off is nearly impossible due to the constant stream of climbers below you. I think every nice day is crowded, because it is so darn much fun. Please don't tailgate, let those ahead of you enjoy their experience. There are a couple of places where you could pass slow parties if you ask nicely and aren't a jerk. At the 2nd cable bridge you can instead opt for the zip line (tyrolean), which we did. Make sure you know how to do it (there are instructions in German with photos at the start). There is also a warning about going to fast and crashing into the far wall, but we over-compensated had the opposite experience of not zipping all the way across and had to pull ourselves the final bit, which can be tiring. On a crowded day, the climb took about 2.5 hours. If you're an experienced traditional "clean" rock climber (as I am), then the crazy amount of fixed gear takes a little getting used to, but when in Switzerland, why not do as the Swiss do?
