Our kids loved the walks and the views.
It costs €5 to take your car up to the summit but with small kids it's a must.

It's great for kids of all ages from 1 to 101, there is free tastings which you will enjoy and get a taste of this wonderful chocolate and a little history behind the factory.
Children were entralled by full-wall murals which brought Willie Wonka to life and fascinated watching chocolate manufacture.

Kerry Cliffs Portmagee 3.5 mi away

The views are dramatic and there is safety fences in place but of course watch your kids around any cliff views.
The walk up to the cliff edge is very long and rising, but well worth it, just keep children away from the sides, as the fence is electrified.

Flavours ranged from vanilla and chocolate to caramel, cookies and cream, honeycomb ( amazing) and even bubblegum ( apparently a winner with kids).
Great little family farm and delicious ice cream!

... very well laid out with a good flow around from the entrance gates (removed from the sea after a storm), through the early history of the monks and their endeavours to the light houses and their families.
He ensured all the children were involved by letting them "drive the boat", which was a lovey touch.

Short walk down an uneven path to the rocky coastline brings you out at this view point observed behind a roped off barrier and sign 'do not cross'.... pity the woman with 2 children didn't respect the sign.

Great place to make history real for kids.
There is very adequate parking and the short slightly uphill walks are child and older person friendly.

Ballycarbery Castle Cahersiveen 4.5 mi away

Before visiting the castle, I researched a little about the families that lived there and found the stories to be very intriguing.
You are able to climb up into the castle so be very careful (especially with kids) as the rock and earth are a bit loose.
