The Barnegat Lighthouse opened back up in 2021 and it is the most amazing climb with the best views on a sunny morning. It is a great walk up the stairs (261 of them) and the views are well worth the trip up. Amazing views of the bay, the town of Barnegat and Long Beach Island. Take time to walk the path through the dunes and admire the beauty of Mother Nature at her best. The walk along the bunker and around the park is breathtaking on a clear sunny day.

The NJ Maritime Museum is one of those very underrated museums that has interesting displays and wonderful information on both local and New Jersey history of the shore region.

The exhibits on the 1916 Shark Attacks that inspired the movie "Jaws", the Castle Moro fire of the 1930's and the nautical exhibitions are very engaging and through. They tell an interesting story. The artifacts that are in the collection are excellent and well displayed. The staff at the museum is very engaging and will help you with any questions and are very proud of this museum.

The museum is also free but try to leave a donation as this small museum is a wonderful place to visit when you are visiting Long Beach Island.

A friend was not going to use their beach house that they rented in a last minute change of plans so we got to use for the weekend in Ship bottom beach. We’ve never been so it was a nice surprise and only stayed for the day. The place was steps away and convenient. The area is quieter compared to the other sections of Long Beach island since the area was mostly privately held homes rather than the hotel stretches on the other sections. It was a great calm time and the water was very cold due to time of the year. We were not crowded in and got some much needed rest to do nothing. My teen got bored after a while with no friends but still worth a day trip. Getting there was easy surprisingly. We heard traffic usually is problem. I only gave it 4 stars because I am not much of a beach person. Not on my number top 5 things to do.

The sound system was caustic the night we attended Surflight’s staging of “Something Rotten”.
The acting and choreography carried the performers and audience through entertaining and hysterically funny scenes. Two of the singers were flat ( one seemed to be trying to sound bad but later in the show her last solo was suboptimal as well). The remaining cast had wonderful voices!
It’s difficult for actors to perform live with recorded music but most were up to it.
Ticket prices were reasonable for such a large cast. Always a delightful evening at the Surflight!

We visited Fantasy Island today with my 2-year-old niece. She was able to go on 5 of the rides with one of the adults in the party accompanying her (carousel, train, tea cups, pirate ships, and bumblebees), which was plenty for her. Most of the other rides appeared to be for school age kids. There were a lot of arcade games as well, but we did not play any of those so I can’t comment further on them. We had a good time here and I would go back again in the future if I had small children with me.

Always great to check out where the fresh fish you’re ordering just came from.

Great view of all the fishing vessels and a very nice group of shops to make the visit even more attractive.

I visited the Long Beach Island Historical Society during the Elf Workshop and that is a great family event. The museum was packed with people enjoying this holiday event.

I toured the back galleries which really tell an interesting story of Beach Haven and all of Long Beach Island from its founding as a Methodist Camp to a resort through the Victorian Age until modern times. There really was a transition from the resort town it once was to the residential area that it has become. The Victorian Room and all the maritime artifacts really show that the Fishing community is alive and well on the island.

The museum is very underrated and if you like interesting and engaging exhibitions on the history of an important shore community, this is the museum for you. Great for kids as well during Halloween and Christmas.

A great gift shop with reasonable prices and lots of things. It has stuff for the beach, but also stuff to bring home like taffy and gifts. its only a short bike ride or walk from the majority of surf city homes in the center of town.

I went to visit the Barnegat Light Museum but it was closed for the day. I decided to tour their gardens which even in the cooler months have a quiet beauty to them. You can walk along the paths and just relax and enjoy the afternoon. I could see by the sign that you can call for an appointment in the after hours to tour the museum.

Good parking in close proximity to other local attractions, this water park is convenient and clean. Staff is friendly. Park is well laid out for a confined space, and directions to attractions are clearly mapped and marked out. Plenty of food options. Water park, Flow Rider, and mini golf all on site. Prices available by the hour, and they’re pretty reasonable as long as the lines aren’t long. We go on weekdays, so it’s usually ok. My teen loves the flow rider and my younger son is a fan of the slides. Good experience overall.

There is nothing like a Long Beach Island, NJ Beach. They've just been reconstructed so they are larger/longer. This particular beach seems to hold fish within range of surf casters.

The town is super. Great restaurants, fun things to do. Want to sit on the beach and veg out? Dis is de spot!

Easy parking, nice close by shore for pics, and a great destination of shops and places to eat to keep yourself occupied for several hours, especially with the young ones.

I visited Bay Village shopping complex on a recent trip to Beach Haven and they really have a nice selection of stores and restaurants. On a busy November afternoon I am sure during the summer months this place is much more active but the complex does a nice job decorating for the holidays. The stores were open but are more geared towards tourists than locals and buying logoed tee-shirts in the late fall is not what I was looking for. There were a lot of food options.

They really need to gear the complex for all year round shopping with more restaurants and holiday events. It could be a lot busier for the merchants.
