A stunning Cathedral - excellent tour guide. beautifully restored with artefacts from throughout the ages. Well preserved and good to know that the cathedral is still used as a place of worship regularly.

Great little museum. Interesting exhibits. Enthusiastic staff members. Free but we left a donation. Would recommend.

This suitably positioned memorial statue to a great leader is close to the ancestral home of David Stirling and includes additional references to the founding fathers of the modern day SAS which were those resilient men of the Second World War LRDG
Keeping an eye on the setting Sun the views from here are quite stunning.
It was reassuring to notice a surveillance system maintains the peace and tranquility such a monument deserves.

We must of gone pass this a dozen times in the car and not noticed the Gold Post Box. It doesn't stick out.

Really unique place. It is so exciting to see so many ancient books. The librarian is willing to answer all questions, you can even ask to open the book you like and look through it. Definitely a must to visit if you are in Dunblane👍🏻

Nice walk, although there was quite a lot of litter around along the Bridge of Allan end, which the council really need to address. The old Darn road itself is quite 'rugged' and even in the blistering weather we have had, had damp muddy bits - I can imagine it would be interesting after heavy rain. The scenery was quite lovely along the route, and I'd certainly happily do it again. We went further on after Dunblane and carried on to Ashfield. Unfortunately there is nothing there - had there been a pub with a beer garden it would have been perfect! However, it didn't, so we turned around and came back. It was a very pleasant addition to the walk though. As an adendum - the playpark at Dunblane is well worth a visit - even for teens ;)

Played here on Sunday. A super course. No two holes looked the same. Views towards the mountains were stunning. Everyone was very friendly and the no problem attitude in the bar/ restaurant a big bonus. Ordered something from the small bites menu ( recommend the steak ciabatta )and if that was small I would not be able to move after something from the mains! Will definitely be back!

Although it sounds very romantic , it’s believed that “Faery Bridge” is actually a corruption of “Ferro Bridge”, as it was constructed using “ferro-concrete” in 1911. The designers were Considere - early pioneers of this type of concrete construction. However, this graceful, reinforced, arched footbridge is situated in such enchanting surroundings that it’s not inconceivable the “little people” inhabit this area. The slender bridge spans the Allan Water in 28.3 metres , and connects the two sides of south Laighhills Public Park. The views over the river and relaxing walks along either side are very rewarding.

Always enjoy exploring the Laigh Hills as there are a few tracks traversing these ‘low’ hills. The ferns are particularly pleasant in summer. There’s a football pitch, playground, skatepark and some new exercise equipment. Also some good views of Dunblane, River Allan and the Stirling to Perth train line.

Located in the Black Hills around Sheriffmuir is a length of concrete wall built during WW2. We spotted one long section and a smaller bit. There are trodden paths up to it from a couple of lay-bys but nothing there to give any indication what it actually is. The Atlantic Wall was built by the Germans as a defensive wall around coastal northern Europe to stop the Allied forces. Replica sections of wall were constructed around the UK for essentially gaining knowledge of how to break through them. What remains at Sheriffmuir is what wasn’t destroyed during target practice! It’s an interesting piece of military history in Sheriffmuir (not too far north from the old Sheriffmuir Inn).

St. Blane's is not a visitor attraction as it's not open during the week except for groups that use the premises, but it is a lovely, recently renovated church with a mix of traditional music on organ and also modern praise music. St. Blane's has activities for kids on Sundays and through the week and provides a warm welcome on Sunday mornings at 10am for services. Check local notices for Sunday evenings as this varies week-by-week.
