What travellers are saying
- Jocelyn W4 contributionsThis is a cute town to walk around for 1-2 hours. Plenty of cafes and food spots, and lots of boutique clothing stores that sell pretty similar clothing. Not much else to do. After walking around the streets here, I walked ~15 minutes to a nearby food court (Cham Cha Local Market) which is a very local food court (no other tourists when I went) with amazing spring rolls and pork bone soup.Written 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian SSkaftafell, Iceland17 contributionsFun experience posing and trying to come up with funny and creative pictures with the various scenes. Wife and I saw this museum when looking around and thought it would be a fun time. We were right. - Ramida H3 contributionsWe found this museum while walking through Phuket Old Town and decided to go in for a quick visit. The museum houses an extensive private collection of artifacts that show cases the way of life of people in Phuket from the old days. It was very cool to see all the different types of equipments and tools that people back then used in their daily lives and see how far we’ve come, and the most impressive part was probably all the artifacts related to the mining industry in Phuket — super interesting to see. Worth a visit, so happy we did, it was such a cool experience and worth the money!Written 26 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - r2thebizelPattaya, Thailand503 contributionsLovely walk around the small exhibits, free entry. The Phuket timeline is very interesting for those wanting to see where it has come from in the tin mining industry to tourism, right up-to-day with COVID-19. Upstairs is a Chinese influence history and a well done VR experience.Written 5 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kaushik GMumbai, India4,069 contributionsWe had visited the beautiful Wat Mongkol Nimit temple in old Phuket town during our sightseeing tour of the old Phuket town. We liked the beautiful Pagoda style architecture of the temple tower and intricate colorful art work on the walls of the temple. At the backside there is a giant stupa which is surrounded by many golden colored small stupas. Inside the temple when we sat before the Lord Buddha it was very peaceful.Written 26 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David DDevon, UK20,544 contributionsFriday 14th February and a visit to Old Phuket was the final stop of our Explore Phuket Tour.
While exploring and strolling about the Town, we came across this beautiful old Chinese shrine on Phangnga Road.
It is also known as the Shrine of the Serene Light and was founded in 1891.
It would be very difficult to avoid seeing the building with is many arched windows, terracotta roof tiles and numerous colourful hanging lanterns and fabrics adorning the building.
Sadly we were on a tight schedule so did not have time to go inside the Shrine, however, we did stop for a few minutes to admire and enjoy this holy building.Written 23 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HINA WIslamabad, Pakistan6,566 contributionsThis is a beautiful traffic junction. It is located in a scenic walking area. The centre of the traffic circle is decorated with elegant seahorses. - Josh3 contributions“Chureang travel & tours” with the help of “Rassada VIP Ground Co.,LTD.” sold us 4 tickets the day prior to the trip to Phi Phi island for 11am dep. After checking out from the hotel at 9am and driving 1 hour to the port an hour early, they told us the boat was full. (There were many visible empty seats) The staff were unable to provide any information, help or compensation. We were asked to wait 4 hours to see if there is more room on the next boat. It is clear that they only care about the sales of tickets, not worried about customer experience or satisfaction. 1 Star.Written 29 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Simon RUlverston, UK51 contributionsExcellent, rather special cocktail bar in the old town part of Phuket. Whether having a sundowner, pre-meal cocktail, special occasion or post meal blast, this small boutique bar hits the spot. Give the ‘Butterfly Effect’ a go, rather delicious.Written 20 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
