Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had read a leaflet featuring the monastery, and noted that for the month of October, it is closed each Wednesday.

Having had lunch in the village, I arrived for the afternoon opening ( either at 2pm or 2.30pm, according to where you look it up !)

€6 entrance fee for an adult. ( maximum charge)

The dogs and don'ts, regarding access, are clearly explained.

Armed with a leaflet, and a large laminated guide, both in English, I set off.

Impressed with the monk's cell - basic but adequate. The cloisters, chapel, choir and refectory are also capable of making you take stock of modern life, and its trappings.

For me, though, the gem is the rear garden. Gently overgrown in parts, it is in a spellbinding location, surrounded by mountains on all sides, seemingly.

Was reluctant to tear myself away from the view, sat on a terrace chair, at home time !

A jewel of Savoy-Piedmont baroque art in a lovely setting.
Worth the 10 minute stroll even on a cold winter morning.

A gem of a place, recently restored. Stunning in and out, with good info inside to give you an idea of how it came about. Also superb location...

Was there during a ski week when the weather wasn't the best for skiing.
This church was the right place to visit.
Not traditional and really beautiful inside.
Just take a look at the pictures.

Large high ceiling. Beautiful altar and stained glass around the altar. On both sides of the altar on the sides are beautiful small chapels. A number of pretty statues. Unfortunately a lot of the walls and wall paper or painting is crumbling and is in need of repair and restoration.

A stunning church that is different from all the rest due to the detailed timber work. We were fortunate to see this as part of one of our guided tours with Mark B. This way, we heard all about the history - what the heart plaque meant, the seating, stained glass windows, and so on.

From the outside, it’s quite humble. But the inside is a true display of 17th and 18th century art with high quality paintings. The small cathedral is simply stunning, loaded with History. It used to be a cathedral until 1790, since the town was blessed and favored by royal decree for its history of loyalty towards the French kingdom. Such favor allows the small town to have such a high quality miniature cathedral with magnificient pieces of art and furniture, most of them from the late 17th to mid 18th century.

This is a very small church but it’s still worth a look inside.
The stained glass windows in the entrance to the church depict mountaineers.

La Madonna is about 6 kilometers from Utelle village. After a winding road you'll reach it and you'll be blown away.
The sanctuary itself is pinkish and has a nice interior.

The surrounding area is beautiful and so very quiet. You'll have a 360 degrees view of the Var- and Thinéevalley.

    It's worth a detour.

Some of the best views around and the church setting is out of this world. A little history to have as well.

Lord knows how you dare miss this beautiful building. It's just a few feet from the chaos of the casino, yet a million miles away in terms of class. Take in the tranquility and admire the stained glass.
