We have our favorite wineries we always visit when we are in the Chianti region of Tuscany, we decided to branch out and try a couple new ones this time.
Mauro and Beatrice, both winemakers, provided really detailed information about the specific soils and other features within 3 different vineyards on the estate, and how these affect the grapes and the wine.

La Cantina di Casalvento

A friend recommended several wineries in Chianti (big names like Ama and Brolio), but my wife and I just stumbled on Casalvento when visiting Radda.
Her tour had given us a comprehensive glimpse into the fascinating world of winemaking but I most enjoyed listening to the inspirational story of how she and Bob had come to own a Tuscan winery.

Of the various wineries in the area that we went to, we felt this one was the best tour, best value for money, and great quality and price of wine to take home.
Matteo did our tour and tasting and he was a delight and very knowledgeable about the history of the castle and the vineyards and wines.
Fattoria Vignavecchia

One of the oldest wineries in Chianti.
It was particularly fascinating to learn of the history of her great-grandfather, who established the vineyard and was a naturalist and explorer in the late 1800s.
