Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

    Simple to book online.
Had a great afternoon out with our guide Rick.
Rick was really knowledgeable about the area and local wildlife. He helped us individually with our kayaking skills giving great tips and pointers along with being very chatty and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Had another great day abseiling with Chris.
This was our second visit... we enjoyed it so much the first time we came back for more with more of the family. Chris was brilliant with all the kids, ages from 6 to 14.
Think we'll be back for some caving next 😊

Well worth the trip. Crew were excellent and helpful. Slightly awkward boarding but with their help, boarding was not too difficult. Beautifully restored boat with lovely boat art everywhere. Safety information was by "Shy and Retiring" Brian Blessed and I think the superb commentary was by Arthur Smith. Please correct me if I am wrong. The delightful cruise gave us the sights, sounds and smells of the canal. An excellent 2 hour journey.

Last week my sister and I booked an afternoon Kayaking Session. My sister had experience sea kayaking, I had absolutely zero. We met Colum (our coach) at the Darley Abbey site in Derbyshire. We were given a safety brief, safety jackets and a paddle each. Once in the water (in our kayaks!) Colum patiently taught us the basic skills to get us started. We spent two and a half glorious hours on the River Derwent, sometimes going straight, more often than not going off at an angle but always having a laugh and never once being made to feel inadequate.

Thank you Colum. You were so friendly, helpful and put us at ease from the start. We would highly recommend this activity to everyone, no matter how old or inexperienced.

As a nervous senior solo traveller thoroughly enjoyed my two nights on Rakiraki and loved every minute. Lee and Roberta were great hosts and the mini break provided lovely scenery, food and company. Hope to travel with the Wandering Duck next year.

We had an exceptional day on the canal to Leek on Joshua. Excellent tuition, Tracey was amazing and friendly. A day we absolutely loved and for us Aussies a unique experience we won’t forget. I would recommend to everyone to enjoy this trip, and not to be daunted by having no experience, tuition for the locks and the steering was comprehensive and Tracey supports you immensely. The trickiest thing was the kettle, but our kettle master did a great job.

I did a tandem hang glide at Airways Airsports earlier this week. It was the experience of a lifetime and I’d definitely recommend it! The views from high up in the sky were absolutely spectacular. The adrenaline was flowing for many hours after! It was a pleasure to fly with world champion Judy Leden, who explained everything very thoroughly and clearly. She has had lots of adventures in her life and it was great to hear about them while we were flying. Overall, it was such an amazing morning and I’d love to do it again. If you’re thinking of doing the experience, think no more - get it booked. You won’t regret it!

Our first visit and we had a lovely time it's about 5 minute walk from the centre of matlock and street parking available but not a lot.
The boats are great fun and the man was very friendly. The trai wasn't running on our visit.

Really enjoyed our day of outdoor climbing and kayaking. The instructor knew which spots were good to avoid lots of people. Safe equipment and good facilities. Right balance between getting us to do the activities and also not being too on the go the whole day!

We booked the caving activity and it was absolutely great. Our instructor Colum was a really cool and knowledgeable guy. He taught us a lot about caving, made us feel safe and made this an overall really fun adventure. We highly recommend and will be coming back in the future!
