This is great trail, to have the kids know the variety of shades, ecosystem's, plant, etc; in Big Sur, it has a little of everything, rocks, river, water fall's, big trees, and a lot of poison oak, wear, long pants...
The camp spot is located above a beautiful creek that the kids loved exploring.

Parking is very close to the beach, easy to access if you have small children, and there is plenty of space to spread out and watch the waves crashing through the keyholes in the rocks.
It is great place for kids as well - plenty space to play on the beach.

It is an easy to challenging hike for families- there are some steep ascents, you gain about 1,600 feet.
My kids ages are 21, 17, 11 and 8and we camp each year together and enjoy the family quality time we have here.

A fantastic place to visit for nature and driving freaks, with an awesome drive along highway 1, has a slew of wonderful sites enroute to hang out with friends and family alike.
My kids bring bikes and scooters and buzz all over the campground exploring, getting ice cream, playing in the river, climbing trees.

The Waterfall house is so amazing to see and my kids loved learning how nature can take control of it's surroundings.
You can also do a short or long hike along McWay Creek - there are some interesting places for older kids to see - springs, trees.

The Bixby Bridge, built in the 1930s, is a great place to stop for a family photo or just get out and stretch after a long drive.

Garrapata State Park Carmel 14.7 mi away
#4 of 118 things to do in Carmel
Garrapata epitomizes all of the things that are the peacefulness I find along The 1. Cliffs and crags, raw ocean power, stretches of nothingness, and smiles from my friends and family when they too let go at Garra...
Many families were here enjoying the beautiful day while we were here, and I talked to a very sweet local lady for a bit.

Scrumptious but share adult portions or buy kids portions as they are enormous!
It would definitely be a great place to take the family, but I am sure it is super touristy.
