Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a historic place where I learned a bit about WEB DuBois and what he stood for. There is a bookshop and a small market where tourists can buy clothes and art crafts. There is also a restaurant and an events venue. The day i went, there was a wedding and I was happy to see the beauty of a Ghanaian wedding.

Black Star Gate is part of the Independence Square now known as the Black Star Square. It is possible to climb to the top for a panoramic view of downtown Accra, including Independence Square, and to visit the Black Star of Africa.

This castle is a must see if staying in Accra. It was both an old slave trading post, and a more recent seat of government. The tour guide was quite knowledgable and fun. You'll learn the slave trade history, see some rooms from more recent government stays and they room where the Queen of England stayed.

The challenging part was finding your way in. As it still houses government workers, there are gates & checkpoints to pass through and it's not very obvious where to enter, park or go for visitor entry. We had a taxi driver who knew the way, but without that it would be tricky with little signage.

Beautiful site just to reflect on our past!! Be careful trying to cross the main road getting to this site but overall a beautiful site. At the moment I was there the grounds was not taken care of (grass very high and they was cleaning up) On site there was a great tour guide/ security guard and he helped us take out amazing pictures and we went to the roof to the Black star. Great site . You can spend like 10 to 20 mins taking pictures. Nothing else there. Enjoy

The heart of the city - busy with shops, stalls, restaurants, cafes, beggars, people staring, cars everywhere, cockerels and everything in between. It's the main road of the city, so you may be tempted to visit it, but be warned - it can get unpleasant and overwhelming very quickly.

Great spot, but beware of the artist named Kwabena Adjei, who tries to sell art and eventually becomes intimidating in collaboration with a child gang to give him huge amounts of money for art that impresses no one.

Not a tourist attraction really, just a normal functioning church but as we were walking past we thought it worth a look and to learn of the history of the church. The history is told on T/A by others, and it does have a stark striking interior to match a significant exterior appearance.

First off, the title to this landmark is entirely misleading. This edifice with four minarets strongly resembling (and obviously not by chance) Sultanahmet Camii or Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, is most certainly not Accra Central Mosque. That particular one is at least 8 and maybe as many as 10 km away as the crow flies, not far from the Kaneshie Market. Those who know Accra will know it’s not anywhere near this one. It’s also much less imposing and not nearly as photogenic as this one whose true name is Ghana National Mosque. This one is a newcomer to the Accra map, being erected only four or five years ago with a generous help from Turkish Government. Hence the striking similarity to the Blue Mosque. I couldn’t enter as according to polite security guards, since there were works all around still in progress, it was open to public only on prayer days, i.e. Fridays. So, next time around. But in a town with relatively few sightseeing attractions, it’s worth a visit.

A very interesting place to visit if you would like to know more about Ghana’s quest for independence and the man who was behind it. A guided visit is necessary to understand more details.
Take ID with you if you are entitled to reduced rates. General admission price for non Ghaneans is 100cedis

Ohene Cocoa farm is one of a kind in Ghana, that is promoting eco-tourism to enable tourists and citizens of Ghana alike to witness the country’s pride - Cocoa. The farm visit allows visitors to experience the cocoa harvesting process, and the entire the processing of the beans is demonstrated by very skilled Ohene representatives and the farmers. The entire plantation is wonderful and definitely worth a visit.

The stadium is fairly big. It's opposite the independence square which is used for hosting other national events like Independence Day celebrations.

One of the best places for hosting events. Very clean washrooms, large and spacious halls. Conducive and clean environment as well. Not really a fan of the parking space, very small area. Need more Improvement on that.

A nice tribute to King Tackie.
It is based in a small square across the road from the main market in Accra.
