Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although it is a long round trip, the views from the remote locations and the cruise was well worth the wait and cost. As the weather was good, we were able to experience incredibly scenery on the ground and on the boat. We also took the plane ride back to Queenstown and it was a highly enjoyable flight, as the pilot ensured us the best view and was sociable as well.

Views were incredible. Bus was a little small but didn't matter. Our guide Chris was great and very knowledgeable. Would recommend.

An amazing full day trip with the incredible knowledgable and easy going guide James. A lot of fun stories and great music on the stereo.

The tour was incl. scenic stops along the route giving you a leg stretcher and a chance for some good photos.

What an amazing way to experience the thrills and see amazing sights at the same time. Queenstown is so beautiful and this ride takes you through 2 different rivers and gives you plenty of opportunities to take pics at various locations.
A great 1hr ride that everyone in your family can enjoy. The 360degree spins are fun and left us wanting for more! The weather was perfect and the views were dramatic. The ride was definitely a lot of fun! Do it! It does not disappoint!

This is an amazing experience - but first some details….if you haven’t flown on a small plane before be prepared - ours sat 7 packed in very tight. Not a pressurized cabin. They provide headsets to block some of the noise and hear the pilot. We went on a day with lovely clear weather and very smooth air which made the ride comfortable - I could imagine things being a little rougher in different weather. Our pilot Hamish was amazing - clearly brought his experience as a mountain flight instructor to bear and he kept us well informed about what we were seeing. I could tell we were in good hands! To us the flights were the highlight - seeing all of the amazing things between Queenstown and Milford Sound from the air at a low altitude - flying right beside the mountain tops. Stunning! The boat we did the cruise on was large. 1 outdoor deck on the top, 2 indoor decks (good for the many rainy and cold days, no doubt). They sold a bit of food. The boat rode comfortably and engines were fairly quiet - make for a relaxing ride. There is some interesting geology and a few sea lions.

One of the best cruise experience as the views were amazing. The plus was the vintage cruise ship which gives an option to view the steam room where cabin crew are working hard to move the vessel using coal and manual devices. The mountain experience was even better with BBQ lunch and the farm show that demonstrated the sheep sheering and the guide dog guiding the sheeps to the places.

Our flight was the 9am one on 10th January 2025. We had Megan as our pilot and felt very looked after from checking in on the day at the kiosk through to take-off, the smooth flight and landing. The in-flight commentary was great. We were guided onto the cruise and given tips to maximise our trip. We felt very looked after.

The Earnslaw is a genuinely historic ship, with the sights and smells of early 20th century steam. The family tour and demonstration was fairly limited in scale, but that’s fine - we didn’t want hours of presentation. “Cream tea” perhaps oversells what is on offer, it was fairly basic and not what you would except from that term in the UK, but it was fine.

Amazing sail trip with a great vibe and excellent Skipper Troy. Everything went smooth from onboarding, safety info, bar, views, general info, fun fact, bird watching and good laughs.

We seriously considered skipping Milford Sound given the time taken to get there and back versus time spent on the cruise. We then decided to catch the bus instead of driving, which I thought would lessen the experience. Thankfully we made both decisions. We actually enjoyed the scenery to and from the sound as much as being on the water, and our driver Stan really made the drive so much more enjoyable. Bring able to just relax and have a little nap when needed was far less tiring than driving would have been. If we'd driven we would personally have stopped at the major rivers, as they were more impressive than some of the coach stops, but I understand that parking spots for coaches are limited. It was an amazing experience and one that I would highly recommend.
