Beautiful city square. The architecture of the surrounding buildings is enchanting. Many different restaurants surround the square.

The town square is a definite must do in Krakow that is easy to get to by train or tram.

We visited during Christmas, so the markets were in full swing and were beautifully decorated with a wide variety of items to buy and food to sample.

The cloth hall markets are very unique in a historical building that you must see, with a variety of locally made goods and treats at good prices.

There are a variety of cafes and restaurants to eat at in and around the main square. Sitting in a cafe and saoking in the beauty of the medieval architecture is a must.

There are many laneways and alleys that you can wander down and never get lost as all roads seem to lead back to the square. There is the incredible cathedral St Marys that you must see, it is awesome in its grandeur both inside and out.

However, be aware of your surroundings as we had an encounter with a would-be pick pocketer who was following us and trying to get our handbag. They were brazen, and even when confronted, they kept hanging around. Wear your valuables close to you and keep aware that as a tourist, you might be a target. No different to anywhere else in the world, but it is worth a mention.

Having spent the first few days of our trip in the main square and the roads off it , the Jewish area was quite a different feel. It was more laid back, less touristy. We started at the Old Synagogue and just wandered around. We found the Schindler’s List filming area around Józefa St. Lots of information here on the rounding up of Jews, and surviving in the ghetto and the resistance. We also stopped for vodka tasting at Wokda bar on the corner.
Totally recommend as a safe area to just wander and explore, lots of bars and restaurants away from the more touristy main centre.

The building is really impressive, and I liked the archways.

The inside is interesting when the stalls are not open, but the whole thing is somewhat spoiled by the stalls all being absolute repetitive tourist tat.

Harrowing to know why the chairs are here but important to remember and never forget.

65 chairs laid out as a testament to those who lost their lives in the ghettos.

It’s a heart wrenching place. So sad - the air feels empty , yet heavy.

The chairs look back to the square's history, and the empty furniture that was discarded there. The chairs convey man's inhumanity towards man.

It’s more impactful on an evening as there are lights under each chair.

Stunning medieval architecture and art Nouveau stained glass windows by Stanislaw Wyspiański are creating unbelievable spiritual experience. Although there are many beautiful churches in Krakow, this one is really exceptional.

One of a plethora of churches and synagogues in beautiful krakow
There are perhaps more gilded churches in the city but we hadn’t realised the significance of the crypt which has been renovated and holds some of Poland’s leading scientists and writers who have passed away
Interesting to read about people who helped to crack the enigma machine or were Nobel winners who liquified oxygen, nitrogen and CO2 first

We got into our bathing suits and followed everyone heading to the quarry lake here and went for a lovely swim on a hot day. Even tried jumping in off the rocks. Highly, highly recommend.

Very little to see apart from memories but very sad ,as ironic as it seems the history for this place fars alot better than Auschwitz, and death camp, the Jews in this camp were the lucky ones, but still very moving

When we were walking the streets of Krakow in March , after passing Florian's Gate we've reached a section of the Planty Park - outside the fortified medieval walls of the city.
The park itself is very big - imagine it like a green belt around the old city center ... if you take a look on the map you'll get a better picture of its size.
Now this green area is suitable for walks , jogging if you like , it is a "green area" that has statues on public display - some of those are very interesting and very expressive. And since we've covered just a small section of the park for sure there is much more to be discovered here.
Overall a very nice area for sports and walking ... and to enjoy a patch of nature in the middle of the buzzing city of Krakow.

We visited here to light candles for my family and because my confirmation name is after saint Faustina
An easy tram ride from Krakow.
    Short walk to the grounds.
Inside there is a replica of St Faustina room and some of her own actual items. Small shop for religious items in relation to her and the Divine Mercy.
    Visited the Divine mercy basicila
The observation tower was not open unfortunately.

This is a key old town street and probably the most impressive route to enter the old town and head to the main square.

What really frames the street are the views to the towers at both the north and south ends. That is what makes it stand out.

The establishments on the street are of variable quality.

A good starting point to work back south to explore the old town and the square
Impressive edifice and you can imagine how the old town used to be encircled by a high defensive wall

What can I say , this place is amazing , the drinks particularly the cocktails you make yourself at your table is definitely a great experience. The food is great, staff are lovely and they don't rush you, very laid back . If you're a fan of Witcher then you will love this place. You do queue but you're not waiting for a long time and it is definitely worth the wait. Its a shame we only found it day before we were leaving to go back home. Definitely deserves more than a 5/5
