The town square is a definite must do in Krakow that is easy to get to by train or tram.
We visited during Christmas, so the markets were in full swing and were beautifully decorated with a wide variety of items to buy and food to sample.
The cloth hall markets are very unique in a historical building that you must see, with a variety of locally made goods and treats at good prices.
There are a variety of cafes and restaurants to eat at in and around the main square. Sitting in a cafe and saoking in the beauty of the medieval architecture is a must.
There are many laneways and alleys that you can wander down and never get lost as all roads seem to lead back to the square. There is the incredible cathedral St Marys that you must see, it is awesome in its grandeur both inside and out.
However, be aware of your surroundings as we had an encounter with a would-be pick pocketer who was following us and trying to get our handbag. They were brazen, and even when confronted, they kept hanging around. Wear your valuables close to you and keep aware that as a tourist, you might be a target. No different to anywhere else in the world, but it is worth a mention.
