Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A fantastic afternoon with George as our guide, teacher, chef and family. 6 couples all from the US. Made chicken paprikash and spetzel, and had plenty of good Hungarian wine . Great tour of the Great Market and a nice workspace for our cooking experience . Well worth the time and money

You get to learn a lot of interesting facts about were the chimmney cake originated from and how it came about , then you go on to make three of your own using the traditional skills you have just been shown/ learnt.

    Great value for money !

We had high hopes for this experience, and Marti far exceeded them. In addition to her professional chef preparation, it is clear that she is well organized and so willing to share her knowledge about Hungarian cuisine and history. While we were in Budapest, she integrated aspects of growing up in rural Hungary. Appetizer and wine & non-alcoholic options were provided. In four hours we made sour cherry soup, chicken paprikash, spatazle and gundel (crepe) dessert. It was fun and a wonderful way to start our vacation. The first thing we did in the next morning was to go to the central market to buy paprika! The cooking studio is efficient and set up for multiple people to work to prepare the meal. Highly suggest this experience!

I'm really glad I participated in this activity while in Budapest. As a wine enthusiast, I found the level of information about wines, Hungarian wines, Hungary, pairing to be geared nicely to our audience, and tailored based on questions. As a wine educator myself, I know you can easily overwhelm your guests with to much information, so it's usually best to give basics and gear the deep dives based on their interests. Carlos, our host, did just that.

Carlos, was knowledgeable, passionate and humorous. He came prepared to teach us the basics of Hungarian geography and history, and of wine in the country. Then geared how deep he went based on our questions and interest. He gave us time also to mix and mingle a bit and encouraged interactivity.

The wines were delightful, I really like the whites especially. I love how the shop supports smaller boutique wineries that focus more on low intervention wine making techniques. It's so sad that Hungary doesn't distribute more to the US (I learned the production only just covers local consumption). But glad that now I have a shop that can ship to me if I need a fix!

    Thank you so much!

Bernadett was a lovely hostess. Our time in the market was informative and sweet (we had a chocolate treat AND a plum strudel). Both were excellent. And making the meal was wonderfully organized and well paced. We made potato soup, chicken paprikash, spaetzle, and sour cherry pie. It was delicious - as good as anything I’ve had in my stay in Budapest. This was a delightful time and I wish I’d done it earlier in my visit.
Don’t eat breakfast before this class!!!

The one thing I wanted to do on my first visit to Budapest was to learn how to make strudel for my 91 year old Hungarian Dad. I was so happy to find Marti's class. And I was not disappointed!
Marti is kind and patient in her teaching. Her hands on approach allows everyone to touch the ingredients as well as participate in the preparation. Learning the family history of strudel making helps bring it even more alive! It reminded me of the stories Dad told us of his mom while growing up.
The instructions were easy to follow, the ingredients basic to find, and Marti's guidance made it easy to do.
The strudel was amazing - both the aroma while baking and the taste when done. And by the time I got back to my apartment I had received an email with an assortment of recipes for different strudels to make at home.

From start to finish the experience was wonderful! Marti is a beautiful host! From homemade soft drinks, an experienced and informative hands on tutorial, Hungarian wine and snacks, to enjoying the finished product, every moment is delicious and fun!
I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to learn more about the Hungarian culture and it's foods!

Definitely a bucket list moment in my life! Thank you Marti!

Amazing experience! We had high expectations for our baking/pastry class since my husband is from Hungarian heritage and we wanted to learn how to make some family favorites (Dobos torte, Langos & apple strudel). It was the highlight of our trip! Marti was such fun and a great teacher!

The guide was amazing, explained and taught the whole process. At the end of the preparation we ate and really enjoyed the experience. It can be reached by a green metro to the last stop and from there on foot in 10 minutes.

Fantastic tour with many off the beaten path sites. We were so glad that we did this, as we would have never gotten some of the history and sites included on this tour. Our group had a great time with the cooking class and loved what we made!
