Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
Learn more about our review moderation.

What travellers are saying
- Diane A23 contributionsAt first I thought the Christmas Markets here were very average, but having now spent 3 days here I’ve changed my opinion. What is billed as the main market in Vörösmarty Square is OK - the stalls are selling nice stuff, the food is lovely but it’s not huge. I read there are 100 stalls though. I would say it’s expensive but Christmas Markets always are. I prefer the Christmas Market in front of St Stephen’s Basilica. It’s really pretty and the Basilica has a light show projected on to it in the evening. There are a few other streets with stalls on too. So all in all much better than my first impression!Written 11 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - elisabethsaunders14Brighton, UK9 contributionsLove Christmas Markets and the mulled wine was amazing and very good value here. Otherwise the stalls were pretty much a repeat of stalls elsewhere.
Was lovely to take in the seasonal experience, but they are so packed with tour groups turning up for the day … it can be too much.
Sadly very expensive relatively, with food costing probably 4x or more than local restaurants … but part of the experience!
So lovely but a little commercialised now and few if any traditional or one off stalls for gifts.Written 21 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, the enjoyment was visual only since the music and stories told was in Hungarian only. It seemed to be a very local event with few visitors.Written 24 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mppalmerKlang, Malaysia471 contributionsBudapest did not feel like a very international city except in the wine festival where it felt a little bit different from the rest of the city. We had a 3 day travel pass so we took the public bus up to the castle and made our way to the festival. We had bought our tickets online so we just presented the online ticket and were given our wrist band. The festival is well organised, it is in a large area but well spread out with plenty of places to sit and enjoy your drink. There were many wines to try and we focused on the local Hungarian wines. The Tokaji wines we tried were particularly good. (sweet white dessert wine) this wine is a speciality of Hungary. If you are in Budapest during the annual wine festival this event is definitely worth going to.Written 17 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 177andr_stBudapest, Hungary3 contributionsI visited the recently opened villa during a private tour, given by one of the owners, a businesswoman, who told us about the extraordinary story of the villa, including the renovation, and the 40+ years of putting together the collection, of Zsolnay ceramics, with an emphasis on the early, Beaux Art style period. It’s a pity it is not open permanently. Maybe later.
Though the building was used by a communist time printing house for decades (first as a kindergarten, later as offices), many details were miracoulously preserved. Then renovated with exemplary care.
I’ll certainly include it in the next edition of my Budapest: A Critical Guide.Written 14 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Marczibányi Square's Cultural Centre was opened in 1972.
It serves the cultural and entertainment needs of people living in Budapest.
It has since become a legend, thanks to the countless cultural, often innovative, progressive programs that now reach out not only to young people but to all ages, offering them a meaningful way to spend their time.Written 2 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
