Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Crystal KAustin, TX27 contributionsLoved walking around to see the charming old town and its establishments. My visit was in December during the Christmas season so the visit was extra special. Many good shops to visit and tasty food to try! Would definitely recommend as there must be something for everyone.Written 4 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MateuszBristol, UK1,872 contributionsI visited in June this year whilst in Lithuania and you can visit for free if you go on the last Sunday of the month, normally the tower is 6 euro's .
They were doing some restoration but most if it was open. It's really worth a visit. You can either walk up for free or take the lift for a charge. - Bea703 contributionsVia a wooden staircase you can reach spectacular three white crosses up the hill. The original crosses from the 17th century were destroyed by the Soviet oppressors. From the hill you have a spectacular view over the whole city of Vilnius.Written 14 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Julie CKent, UK430 contributionsWe really enjoyed our visit, but do your research before you go so you know what to seek out. There are some lovely bakeries, as well as many historical places, and some great street art.
Be aware that quite a lot seemed to be closed in February, and most shops don’t open until at least 11, with many not opening until 12 noon.
It is definitely worth visiting, and you need a good couple of hours here to explore everything.Written 13 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This cathedral is the earliest established church in Vilnius, a symbol of Lithuanian baptism and it is the seat of the Archdiocese of Vilnius.
The coronations of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania took place here. Many famous people of Lithuanian and Polish history are buried in the crypts and catacombs including Lithuania’s patron saint St. Casimir, Vytautas: a ruler of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and his wife Anna or the heart of the Polish King and Grand Duke of Lithuania Władysław IV Vasa, the rest of his body is buried in the Wawel Cathedral in Kraków.
You can witness here various styles, including neoclassicism, and the earlier centuries are clearly visible in side chapels that feature various architectural styles which used to be popular in Lithuania. The lower half of the cathedral’s belfry is in fact a former defensive tower of the lower Vilnius Castle. Tiles of different colors mark the places on the square where the defensive wall used to stand.
Next to the Cathedral The National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania is situated which is the 2nd most visited museum in Lithuania- 598 192 visitors (2019).Written 14 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Until you look up above the doors you won't realise you've arrived at the "Pinigu Muziejus".
It's a small museum with lots of coins including international collectors' ones with descriptions in four languages including English. It's interesting to find the offerings from your own country's mint in their collection.
Some of the old coins going back to around 14th century are on a roll behind glass which you can move up and down to select the ones you wish to view through some built-in magnifiers - I've not seen that type of display before. They also have some 13th century Lithuanian long currency - silver ingots which look a bit like a cigar.
There was something downstairs that allowed you to strike your own coin with supervision - I didn't ask about doing that but there was a guide who had asked me earlier if I needed any help/information. There's also a 400oz gold bar you can lift to feel the weight of one.

Only let down was the toilets- chemical toilets when it is such a big area and when there are places to eat and drink isn't really good enough.

- _hawkins8aRochester, UK32 contributionsWe picked a lovely day to visit the Vilnius TV Tower, blue skies and great visibility. We had our lunch in the revolving restaurant on the 19th floor and the food was good and reasonably priced considering you were a captive audience. The restaurant took about an hour to go through 360 degrees. We had to pay €11 each basically just to go up and down in the lift, if we hadn’t eaten in the restaurant we don’t know what was available just to take in the view.Written 6 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MerrowmumGuildford, UK1,284 contributionsThere is an excellent view across Vilnius from here, from the Old Town to the modern business district. You can also see across to the Hill of Three Crosses. The funicular up the hill is €1 each way and only takes a minute or so; we walked back down: steps to start then cobbles about half of the way, quite steep and uneven underfoot.Written 5 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
