What travellers are saying
- Judith Margaret S11 contributionsHow did the Estonians manage to revive their city so quickly. In the 30+ years since the end of the Soviet Union, they have done wonders with their city. Well worth a visit.Written 20 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DaveniumVancouver, BC153 contributionsDefinitely visit this museum. We got a 24 hour tallinn card and did this as our last museum of the day. We truly did save the best for last. The building itself is super cool, and there are a number of interactive fun exhibits for adults and youngsters to enjoy. Make sure you have the energy for an hour or two visit to take everything in! Including walking through the submarine, trying out an antiaircraft gun and even playing with some remote controlled boats!Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Judith Margaret S11 contributionsIf you're lucky with the weather, the walks are fabulous, the views breathtaking and the restoration of a city after almost 50 years of Russian neglect is amazing.Written 20 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- KaraXYZNew York City, NY101 contributionsThis church has a massive dome in a style I'm not accustomed to seeing, so we really enjoyed having a chance to walk around and admire the building. Nice even if you don't go inside (which is really dark)Written 1 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Nicholas NCopenhagen, Denmark793 contributionsI really nice park to walk around in. I was here in November but would definitely like to see it during the summer time.Written 23 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JunyDubai, United Arab Emirates64 contributionsPlace is very beautiful and historic, clean and less crowded. There are a lot of restaurants and bars where you can have national meal and drinks.Written 4 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- CanadianInukshukTORONTO130 contributionsWe absolutely loved our time at this fantastic outdoors museum. I
It was really easy to get to by bus from Tallin. Staff were very nice. The cafe was great with local food and especially good coffee, great place to take a break.
Make sure you stop at the farm that details traditional Estonian wedding celebrations, that was interesting.
Make a circuitous routing anti clockwise, finishing at the communist era apartment building. This was so enlightening. The curator will show you the best way to view the various apartments starting from the earliest in the 1960's working your way to modern times. Was a great way to understand what Estonia has been through, especially watch the 10min movie in the basement about collective farming.
So glad we made the effort to get here.
We arrived for opening just after 10am and didn't leave till about 3pm then we had plenty of time back in the old town of Tallin.Written 2 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Samu8787Nurmijarvi, Finland7 contributionsThis one was our second visit here but still good. Please consider replacing the ptz camera for never model so that the image quality would ne betterWritten 20 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mikael FHelsinki, Finland23,629 contributionsThis museum was opened in 2006. The modern building is designed by a Finnish architect Pekka Vapaavuori. This was our second visit after April 2006.
Two days before our visit, we bought online tickets for the three Kadriorg museums (Kumu, Kadriorg, and Mikkel) for 22 euros (normal rate) and 16 euros (senior rate). There were problems delivering the tickets but it was solved after two emails.
Luckily, this ticket is valid for one year because we did have time to visit just Kumu on this trip. There was so much to see.
The permanent exhibitions feature Estonian art from the 18th century, art from the Soviet occupation (1941–1991), and Estonian contemporary art.
There are also temporary exhibitions of both historical and contemporary art from Estonia and abroad.Written 15 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Ahmed OrabiDoha, Qatar467 contributionsView from the tower is spectacular. I am not that fit or sporty person but I took the 200 something steps to the observation platform in just 2 shoots with just one break for a couple of minutes. Very recommended to have a 360 amazing view from above all over the cityWritten 20 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Katarzyna Chojna302 contributionsThis place offers so much to do and to see. Restaurants and bars on every corner and all that in a very cool, industrial setting.
A must!Written 23 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - zktravelsPoland170 contributionsThe atmosphere around this area during Christmas time is indescribable. Beautiful buildings, delicious food, aesthetic decorations. Highly recommend !Written 23 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Heli PHelsinki, Finland5,373 contributionsStepping down to a small chamber you enter the world of brightly shining glass. The walls are lined with marvelleous unique pieces of bowls, wine glasses and carafs with elaborate ornamentation and colouring. The artist Kai Koppel creates them with her daughter by the hot furnace in the back in the same manner as in Medieval times. I selected a light green bowl covered with small glass knots.Written 7 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- TPWEsqLondon, UK287 contributionsA great view of the Old Town. Perfect for taking
Insta-worthy snaps (if that’s you’re thing) and if you’re lucky, you might get some live music from buskers at the same time!Written 2 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - jbg74Saint Paul, MN823 contributionsThe museum inside the towers of the walls was interesting and there were some good photo ops from the walls too. It is well worth a few hours of your time. I thought the "haunted" tower with the information on Tallinn's psychic/paranormal clubs of the 1920s and 30s was unique.Written 21 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
