We pre booked this tour through Kirra tours.
Visiting Akaroa for the day, we had booked & paid for our Black Cat harbour cruise tour via their website a few months prior to our NZ cruise on the Norwegian Jewel in early January.

What a fabulous way to explore the nature's bounty in Akaroa - from the penguins to the albatross to the seals frolicking on the shoreline and in the rocks - this was an unbelievably grand tour with so much to see...

Tour guide Jake was awesome, giving us incredible insight into the history of the area as well as taking plenty of photos of us all which saved us the hassle of risking our cameras dropping in the water.
Allie was an amazing tour guide, incredibly knowledgeable about the area, its history, and all its creatures.

If your tour of this wonderful country affords a visit to the South Island, put Akaroa on your itinerary and choose Black Cat Cruises for a swim with the dolphins.

Definitely one of the best tours I have done around the Christchurch area.
It was an absolutely great trip and we're happy to take the early tour because the water was so calm and we were very lucky to have seen the (7) hector dolphins swimming and playing around us.

Amazing time spent with Black Cat Tours
It was one of the best tours we've been on and we'd recommend it to all visitors to Akaroa.

From the modern, clean boat, via the spectacular scenery and wildlife, to the knowledgable and friendly team on board ... this was one of the best tours I've ever experienced.
Upon arrival, we met both owners, Pip and Hugh, while picking up our tickets and had a lovely conversation about the area and history of the Dolphin Tours.

Thanks so much for the time and effort you put into your tours, hope to see you next time.
The wetsuits were in great condition, better than most that I had experienced on other water tours.

Ray is very knowledgeable and makes you feel like you are on a private tour.
This tour is run by "Captain Ray", a consummate professional with highly developed interpersonal skills.

The captain had a real talent for finding Hector's dolphins, and they like to follow this sailing boat more than the power boats offering Akaroa tours.
Our family debated the various Akoroa Harbour tours and concluded the Fox II best suited our needs.

He gets to know each and every one of his passengers on every one of his tours, and genuinely enjoys sharing his immense knowledge about the history, geology and biodiversity of the area.
We recently enjoyed one of Tony's, Coast Up Close, wildlife tours while spending five days at Akaroa.

I've done a couple of sheep tours in New Zealand and although all of them include sheep shearing and watching the dogs work, if you want something truly unique, I recommend Akaroa Farm Tours.
The ship had quite a few tours to choose from so in Akaroa I chose a visit to a sheep farm.

Unlike most commercial tours you can see these people really care about the penguins and even if you see just a couple of them "face to face", the effort they do to help the penguins is worth every penny you spend...
We were instantly welcomed into the Pohatu Penguin tours by friendly staff eager to make your experience the best.
