- Rob SAnchorage, AK5 contributionsThe cave tubing was amazing, Edione (eh-dee-OH-nee) was an excellent, funny, and personable guide. He worked hard, literally, keeping the tubes going, or going not so fast in the quicker water.
MayaWalk is an excellent choice as the travel van was modern and air conditioned (not a given in Belize) and the office where you might wait in the morning is also modern, clean, and air conditioned.
WHAT I WISH I KNEW BEFORE: we arrived at the tour essentially ready to hop in the water. But there is a nice changing facility at the cave. I wish I’d brought my wallet and phone. There is WiFi at the lunch restaurant.
The cave tubing was mostly low-key, but there was some walking around inside the cave that was a bit tricky and some short stretches where we had to swim. It was the right level of adventure for us as we weren’t comfortable with lots of very tight spaces.

She was extremely knowledgeable about the ruins and was very attentive during horseback riding. Would definitely recommend riding through the rainforest. Our sincerest and deepest gratitude to Hector for guiding us skillfully through ATM and sharing his own connection to Mayan history. As the only non-swimmer in the group, Hector kept a close watch on me. The cave was vast, and yet Hector guided us through every small step and crevice to get us through safely. While other cave excursions throw in a bit of history and lore, this ATM experience gave it all. We came out proud for overcoming physical challenges and fears, and with a deep respect and awe of Mayan history, as well as archaeological discovery.
Thank you also to Reuben in San Ignacio, who encouraged us to take this tour by taking the time to address our concerns. He literally invited us to sit down to talk through options. No other tour group spent that time with us. In the world of customer service, Reuben is just superb.
