Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Iconic spot to visit in Fes. The smell is not nearly as bad as before due to the process starting later (the raw hides are stored elsewhere before being brought in). We went during winter so the temperature kept the smell down as well. Watching the work is mesmerizing as you see the process of turning the raw materials into smooth durable leather. The real danger comes after the tour when they try to ell you something. The smell of your money overpowers the leather tanning process! Bargaining is a full contact sport so be aggressive and prepared to walk away if you don't get a price you like. Remember, there is nothing there you have to leave with...

Just off the main pathways from the blue gate you will find this hidden showroom. After some friendly bartering over mint tea, we negotiated a price that made both parties happy. There was no pressure or attitude. One just needs to know what size and colours they want and Mohamed and staff will do the rest. They even wrapped my 2 x 1.5 m carpet into a small enough size that I took it as carry on luggage for my flight home.

This section of the Medina hosts the coppersmiths and metalworkers. They make copper and brass bowls, plates, and naturally pots and pans.

Souk el Henna has been in operation for so long that hardly anyone knows when it actually started. It sells everything you can imagine, but cosmetics, perfumes, clothing, homewares, fruit and veges , and a host of other things are all sold there. There are many artisans working and making things from scratch. It is the real Fes! Worth a visit.

The store looks fantastic and people who work there are very nice. It's filled with colourful bottles, diffrent cosmetics and intresting decoration. I had a great chat with the owner. He told us a lot about aromatherapy, natural medicine, as well as about Fez and Maroccan culture. I really recommend visiting this place

R’Cif means paved road. This wood roofed market is located next to Place R’Cif. It is the main food market in this area. It is the best place to buy fresh produce. You can find freshest fruit, vegetables and meat. This is also a perfect place to watch the Moroccan market life in action. You can see local confectionary stores, butcher shops with camel heads, convenience stores and banks nearby. There are Taxi stands and bus stops in this region too. The market is very crowded. There are various eateries here like the famous Mr. Ayachi and Snack Flamingo.
