Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was an amazing experience. Me and my friends learned a lot of Moroccan dishes during the class. The chef was really experienced and took care about our questions. If you are here in Fez, this is a must.

Moroccan cuisine is truly unique, and learning to prepare it is an adventure in itself!

Upon our arrival at a beautifully traditional house in Fes, we were warmly greeted with some tea—a sign of hospitality deeply ingrained in Moroccan culture. Our cooking adventure was shared with two other groups, making for a lively and communal atmosphere as we embarked on preparing around six dishes together.

The cooking session was incredibly fun and accessible, designed in such a way that even beginners could easily follow along. It was a joy to watch the elderly matriarch of the house, not only guiding us, the guests, but also her own son and daughter through the recipes. Her expertise and patience in teaching the art of Moroccan cooking added a genuine touch to the experience.

After dinner, we shared wonderful stories and experiences with each other. It was a truly blessed night, filled with laughter, delicious food, and new friendships. This experience was not just about the food but the warmth and joy of sharing a meal together, making it all the more special

Loved this experience! Badr, our most friendly and knowledgeable guide, took us through the Medina to grab ingredients, which was such a fun way to start our cooking class— a great way to experience the marketplace. Badr was also very gracious in sharing with us the rich Moroccan history and culture. Afterwards, Fatiha taught us how to make tagine and baba ganoush. What an expert! It was so much fun to see the whole process of making these amazing traditional dishes. An unforgettable experience, thank you Badr and Fatiha!!

Abdul and Fatima are a lovely couple who - along with their family - open their home to share Moroccan cooking and traditions with you. There was a glitch/mix-up with our registration, so we weren't picked up as scheduled, but when I contacted Abdul, he immediately rectified the situation, and we were picked up within 30 minutes. (And even with that inconvenience, I'm still giving it five stars - that's how good it was!) He then took us on a tour of the food market at night with several tastings. We'd been warned as tourists not to be too adventurous at the market and not drink the water, but Abdul was sensitive to this, took us only to reputable and clean stalls, and provided bottled water; none of us had any issues afterward. We were making tagines, and he encouraged us to share what foods we liked or didn't like so we could tailor the recipes - we had a vegetarian, a gluten-free, and someone who didn't like seafood in our group, and he accommodated all of it (although reminders were understandably helpful for them). We even picked out our own veggies and fruits to try at the market and to use in the recipes. The cooking class with Fatima (Abdul's wife) and Fatiha (his mother) back at their guesthouse/hotel was delightful - we were encouraged to help, and we wrote down recipes to take home. The setting (the tour photo doesn't do it justice) was absolutely gorgeous, built in the 1500s and covered in fabulous mosaics. We also had wonderful conversation with the family about life in Morocco. Then the best part - we enjoyed a variety of appetizer salads and two different tagines (all of which we'd helped to make), and then dessert in the beautiful rooftop restaurant of their guesthouse. This tour was perhaps the highlight of our week-long trip through Morocco (we were on an organized group tour but booked this class during a free evening, and we liked it MUCH better than the optional excursions on our tour!), and we would HIGHLY recommend it to others. It was beautiful, authentic, and meaningful - not to mention DELICIOUS!

Fatima is a great host; she took us through the market to let us pick ingredients we wanted to cook with (we picked artichokes and eggplant along with other items) then back to her ryad to cook and eat! We had so much fun, learned a lot and our meal turned out to be one of the best we had on our trip! The view from the outdoor kitchen was wonderful and you can get all your culinary questions answered! We also made a quick trip to the community oven to bake the bread we made, very interesting! Definitely recommend this experience.

Class directed by Chef Fatima with participation by the restaurant maitre’d. Our visit included Fatima’s family who gave us a wonderful perspective on Moroccan cuisine and family meals. Fun, informative and delicious. Very nice class set up.

There was a lot of walking but Tarik made sure to check in on us throughout the tour. The tour is long so be ready to walk, but every place we walked through was beautiful. we can't do this tour without Tarik any more and I'll admit he really made Fes special for us.

The food prepared by Yassine and his family was out of this world. Out of all the food I’ve tried in Morocco this was definitely the best. I also was able to have great conversations with Yassine and the other guests joining for dinner, overall I was very pleased with my time there. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone in Fes.

Such a fun and yummy way to enjoy our lunch! Rabab started at the market and we got to explore a bit and learn about the market before heading to the riad! Rabab and the chef had a lovely outdoor set up in the courtyard and walked us through the steps of each course! We got to learn how to make some of our favorite Moroccan dishes, including the eggplant salad!

Sufyan picked us up from our riad (so we wouldn't get lost), we went ingredient shopping and then to a very special location to prep and cook! He provided a really great experience with his counterparts and made our rainy day in Fes incredible. It was so fun prepping food together as well as discussing Moroccan culture and life at the same time. Would 100% recommend this experience to anyone traveling through Fes. It was a really refreshing type of class and Sufyan was a warm and friendly host.

We took this group cooking class (and Souk visit) with the team at Palais Amani and LOVED it. The guide and chef could not have been nicer. The souk visit to pick out items we then went onto cook was a lot of fun. Shockingly, our dishes came out restaurant quality delicious, which was a nice bonus to an overall great experience. Terrific for families (our young teenage daughters loved it).

This was hands-down the best cooking class I’ve ever done. Chaimae is one of the kindest and most welcoming people I’ve met, and I feel so grateful to have met her and her family. I learned so much, not just about Moroccan cooking, but about Moroccan culture and hospitality.
I reached out to Chaimae and told her that my dad was really interested in the bread making and I was interested in tagine and other Moroccan vegetable dishes, and she combined the two classes for us! Chaimae’s lovely mother, whom her business is named after, taught us how to make a special Moroccan bread. We made an incredible chicken tagine and three vegetable starters—including a BEYOND delicious eggplant zaalouk. She helped us find a great deal on a tagine dish, so now we can make it ourselves at home!
Before we even started cooking, Chaimae was on top of it with helping us navigate Fes as travelers, from helping with taxis to directions to recommending other women-led businesses and guides to support. She served us delicious tea and homemade pastries as well. She uses the freshest ingredients and really believes in tourism as intercultural exchange—learning from each other, rather than transactional.
Thank you so much Chaimae, and we will keep in touch! Thank you to your mother and sister as well for welcoming us into your home. See you hopefully soon!

Excellent experience. Hakim was a great local guide. Learned a lot about and tried a lot of food. We booked a private tour, and they were reasonably priced and very accommodating. It was the perfect first night. Highly recommend.
