Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A 14th century fondouk that was the Inn of the Carpenters that now is an amazing museum displaying Morocco's various native woods plus tools and wooden doors and furniture.

This store had the most beautiful rugs in town. The vendor was courteous and quickly zoomed in on the alley rug we were looking for. Hang on tight, this was quite an experience, with rugs flying all over the place. Advice: find your way there alone (without a guide) and make magic happen.

Temptation was strong as I walked through the outdoor area with the fountains and the store after I had watched the artists preparing, making, and explaining their work. Their pride was palpable. I was especially enamoured with the fountains. We had recently moved and I could picture one in the backyard of our townhouse. Problem was I was with a tour group and wouldn't have had time to select and purchase one and they can't be ordered. So my suggestion would be to look at all the pictures before you go, see what appeals to you and be ready to buy when you see in person. Everything is beautiful and the manager Ahmed is eager to share the art and help you make a selection. You won't see products like these just anywhere.

There is no doubt that Fes and Marrakech Medinas are museums in themselves. But there are several indoor museums in these historic cities. One of these is the Batha Museum or Qasr al Batha. This used to be an Alaouite royal palace which was built in late 19th century. We saw it because our hotel was located nearby. It is pretty big and has around 6,500 displays portraying the local culture. There is a lovely little garden around the main building. The entrance fee is 10 dirhams. Some parts are being renovated currently but the guard allowed us to see the gardens.

After a while, as a tourist you get a bit tired of being taken to the same factory craft outlets as everyone else. We did a private tour of Morocco but the guides still take you to the same outlets as the big tour buses. Oh well. This one was better than most and the process of making these ornate products was fascinating. There was a lot of beautiful things to buy, however I wonder if most staff realize that many tourists don’t have 2-3,000 to drop on some of the items they push you to buy. Lovely stuff but…

Nice collection and interesting information. Not the most exciting thing I've ever seen, but if you like museum's you'd enjoy this place. Low price to get in and the staff is friendly. But, not much available in English.

Searched up and down for a pair of shoes that felt extra special and came across this shop in the Medina. We ended up buying 3 pairs they were so nice. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something that’s artistic and a cut above the rest

This tiny library is an inspiration. It provides a wonderful opportunity for children to read books of all sorts. They welcome donations of money and books as they are entirely self funded.

Great little painting shop in Fes. Really loved the selection of paintings from the different artists. Lots of styles including abstract art. Great price. Also, the owner, Yessari, was just a great guy to be around and very funny

If you are after an escape from the hectic of the medina and happen to be in the area of the Musee Riad Belghazi you should definitely consider a visit. The exhibition is worthwhile to have a look at and the views from the roof top terrace is just marvelous.

For leather lovers on a tight budget, this Fes leather store is a hidden gem. Their leather goods are of the highest caliber, and the rates are incomparable. The wide variety, which included anything from bags to outerwear, pleasantly surprised me. The staff was friendly and accommodating, which simplified the shopping process. This store should be your first choice if you're looking for the best leather discounts in Fes. Excellent value and high caliber under one roof!

Amazing staff very knowledgeable and kind. Explained and represented the Moroccan culture on an exquisite level. Would 100% recommend as a gate of discovery to Morocco’s rich culture. Mesmerizing artwork and handcrafted pieces.

Inside the deep Medina, we can find hidden treasures, incredible stars and... Azilal Gallery.
At Azilal you can find high quality carpets, different patterns, and a extremely kind vendor. We did what we should do all the times: bargain. It works and the game is quite fun. The best part comes when we arrive home and see the effect that THE carpet causes. Great. Pricey? Maybe.

We came across this school for young artisans who are learning different traditional handicrafts such as pottery, leather work, weaving, instrument making, sewing etc. We were allowed to visit the workshops and watch the young people at work. There is a shop selling items they have made and the prices were very reasonable. We purchased some items and it was nice to know the proceeds would help the school and the artisans directly. This is on a main road so please look for it in Fes and support the young people in their work.
