Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Temptation was strong as I walked through the outdoor area with the fountains and the store after I had watched the artists preparing, making, and explaining their work. Their pride was palpable. I was especially enamoured with the fountains. We had recently moved and I could picture one in the backyard of our townhouse. Problem was I was with a tour group and wouldn't have had time to select and purchase one and they can't be ordered. So my suggestion would be to look at all the pictures before you go, see what appeals to you and be ready to buy when you see in person. Everything is beautiful and the manager Ahmed is eager to share the art and help you make a selection. You won't see products like these just anywhere.

After a while, as a tourist you get a bit tired of being taken to the same factory craft outlets as everyone else. We did a private tour of Morocco but the guides still take you to the same outlets as the big tour buses. Oh well. This one was better than most and the process of making these ornate products was fascinating. There was a lot of beautiful things to buy, however I wonder if most staff realize that many tourists don’t have 2-3,000 to drop on some of the items they push you to buy. Lovely stuff but…

I found this fantastic place by walking around the area and then suddenly being stopped by the most nice guy I have ever meet in Maroc. He invited me into his shop and offered me a cup of tea. We started talking and I quickly found out how big his heard was. He sold me a djellaba and I told him I would bring my friend so we could discuss buying some carpets. We didn’t have enough cash so he helped us looking for some. He used a lot of his day helping us without wanting anything in return.

I will recommend this place to everybody who wants to buy a carpet or a djellaba in Fès.

Great little painting shop in Fes. Really loved the selection of paintings from the different artists. Lots of styles including abstract art. Great price. Also, the owner, Yessari, was just a great guy to be around and very funny

For leather lovers on a tight budget, this Fes leather store is a hidden gem. Their leather goods are of the highest caliber, and the rates are incomparable. The wide variety, which included anything from bags to outerwear, pleasantly surprised me. The staff was friendly and accommodating, which simplified the shopping process. This store should be your first choice if you're looking for the best leather discounts in Fes. Excellent value and high caliber under one roof!

Amazing staff very knowledgeable and kind. Explained and represented the Moroccan culture on an exquisite level. Would 100% recommend as a gate of discovery to Morocco’s rich culture. Mesmerizing artwork and handcrafted pieces.

We came across this school for young artisans who are learning different traditional handicrafts such as pottery, leather work, weaving, instrument making, sewing etc. We were allowed to visit the workshops and watch the young people at work. There is a shop selling items they have made and the prices were very reasonable. We purchased some items and it was nice to know the proceeds would help the school and the artisans directly. This is on a main road so please look for it in Fes and support the young people in their work.

Inside the deep Medina, we can find hidden treasures, incredible stars and... Azilal Gallery.
At Azilal you can find high quality carpets, different patterns, and a extremely kind vendor. We did what we should do all the times: bargain. It works and the game is quite fun. The best part comes when we arrive home and see the effect that THE carpet causes. Great. Pricey? Maybe.

They have some lovely things and a lot of them look old, but didn't see any certificates of authentic origin as they said many pieces came from old families.

I did get caught up in the hype and purchased a ring that I initially LOVED. They said it was jade, with gold setting and sterling sliver wire wrapped around the base. The gold started 'tearing' and the silver wire kept catching and pulling away.

I'll need to take it to my jeweler to authenticate the stone, the gold and the silver along with making repairs. I only wore the ring for five days before I put it away so I wouldn't do more damage.

Finally, the HATE is that I'm sure that I paid three to four times what I should have and with all of that there wasn't any way to return the item as the country shut down due to COVID-19 and we were forced to leave the country.

Depending on what my jeweler says, this rating might go down to two (poor).

Also, I expect to deal with pushy sales people, but they take it to a whole new level. Be prepared to simply turn and walk out of the shop.

If you are in Fez, I highly recommend you visit Mo Mo at his small but beautiful carpet gallery. My wife and I went into many shops while in Fez and this was our best experience. Mo Mo offered genuine warm hospitality, high quality products and a fair price. He was willing to negotiate with us, especially since we went without a guide. Also, he was very knowledgeable and his enthusiasm was infectious. Do yourself a favor and visit this fantastic shop. If Mo Mo doesn't have what you are looking for, he will direct you to someone who does.

I think the reviews here, all speak for themselves.

We were only here because it was part of our extended tour within Fes over a few days.

Like many of the shops, sellers and even street stalls, you will be-
let’s say not pressured, but significantly enticed, to buy an over-priced piece of merchandise here.

If you like to bargain, then play their game- what is your best price... no, what is your best price… no, what is….

You will hear all the spiels, so enjoy the show, your free, wine, beer or tea, take a few photo’s and happily go on your merry way.
