Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- AliNewEnglandManchester, NH10 contributionsLovely small hassle & haggle free shop right next to the Secret Garden with plenty of fabrics and colors to choose from. I wish I wore scarves so I could have justified buying more than the two I needed for the trip! I paid about $20 US for each and was happy to do so. You won’t regret it!Written 21 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Scott S167 contributionsNo way to see all that is on hand here. Truly amazing selection with kind and dedicated owners and reasonable prices. A must visitWritten 8 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands3,936 contributionsFor those who are into markets, the Bab el Khemis area is perhaps attractive. There is a flea market operating every day. However, for the average traveller the area is not very appealing. There is hardly any shade, except for the hall where furniture is sold (and repaired or even made). The old Almovarid gate itself is of historic interest, though you are looking at a 19th century restored version, not to say replica (not bad).Written 31 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jill KPark City, UT19 contributionsThe system here is that any guide you use will take you to certain shops and they guide will get a commission. Our guide was great, but the places for rugs, lights etc were very pricey. We shopped around more for rugs, and the 2nd place was less than half the price, and this store was even less. The rugs appear to be of the same quality, similar work, etc. This store does not work with guides therefore they can offer lower prices. Its on a nice street by the marjorelle garden and some other cute shops.Written 1 February 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - prueoSydney44 contributionsThis is a really beautiful shop and I purchased a jardinere that I am thrilled with. The gentleman running the store is very very trustworthy and helpful. We had our purchase delivered to our door in Sydney, Australia without any damage. It was incredibly well crated up.Written 30 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Andy FDevizes, UK1,240 contributionsOne of many inter-connected souks/ markets in Marrakech, featuring every traditional trade and craft you can think of. Sometimes one souk runs into another. Sometimes, as in this case, there's a small square with a drinking fountain, a little space and a clear entrance-way into the souk. LOvely place to get lost & take lots of colourful photos.Written 5 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mfortinSan Diego, CA46 contributionsAfter a day of walking the souks we were tapped out on looking at cheap souvenirs with crazy prices. We honestly did not expect anything different when our guide suggested what we make on last stop at La Porte d'Or and thought we would politely browse for a few minutes before leaving. We were pleasantly surprised at the collection of items and lack of pressure to buy. The selection of quality handicrafts and antiques was extensive and we found ourselves having to winnow down the list of things that we wanted to buy. The staff were laid back and knowledgeable. They helped us settle on a beautiful old window at a price we felt was fair. His decorating tips for how to display it were free! Our purchase was shipped to us via DHL and arrived just a few weeks after we got home. It was expertly crated to protect the window and we're looking forward to a future shopping expedition there. I highly recommend shopping at La Porte d'Or.Written 16 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- mclay2015San Clemente, CA76 contributionsAmazing high quality home furnishings. Many of the pieces are handmade in Morocco. Rugs, lamps, vases, intricate inlaid tables, armoires, and desks are just some of the offerings.Written 30 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
