There is a bookshop and a small market where tourists can buy clothes and art crafts. There is also a restaurant and an events venue. The day i went, there was a wedding and I was happy to see the beauty of a Ghanaian wedding.Written 29 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - romadaroWashington DC, DC1,585 contributionsReminded me a lot of the Paris landmark except not as large since you can’t drive through it and there’s lots of trash in the streets and vendors hawking souvenirs. Even the view from the top isn’t that spectacular since Ghana doesn’t really have a skyline or it’s not in plain view. Nevertheless, it’s a must do to hear about the history of Ghana and the significance of both the arch and the Black Star.Written 2 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - romadaroWashington DC, DC1,585 contributionsThe gentleman who gives the tours in extremely passionate, engaging and knowledgeable which made the tour interesting as well as informative. Very well versed on the people, customs and regions of Ghana and the differences. - GuyoftheGlobeBritish Columbia, Canada1,583 contributionsHaving visited other beaches in Western Africa, I was not surprised that people were not sunning themselves the way westerners do. The atmosphere is very party- like with singles mingling at bars/clubs and friends and families strolling, playing games and enjoying the sun and cool breeze off the warm ocean water.Written 31 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PattyCanada5 contributionsLocated inside Kempinski Hotel, Gallery 1957 and at the Galleria Mall across from the Hotel, Gallery 1957 hosts works of contemporary artists. Oliver Okolo had his pieces at the Hotel and Afia Prempeh at the Mall. - AmyDar es Salaam, Tanzania18 contributionsI’m so glad I visited Osu Castle. The guide was brilliant and gave such an impactful, informative tour of the castle spanning so much history. You can see the awful history of the trade of enslaved people as well as recent history such as where modern presidents of Ghana lived and worked. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave poignant descriptions of all the places we saw.
If you go just make sure to walk past the government building still in use to get to the castle. Everyone was helpful in pointing me in the right direction but it was confusing and a little intimidating to walk up to a big closed gate with guards.
I’m giving 4 stars because it was kind of hard to leave if you don’t have a car with no taxi rank or Uber drivers wanting to come that far. Took me about 45 minutes and walking further up to main roads before I could get an Uber back to the city centre.Written 18 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But, a definite must see, along with the Black Star Gate nearby if you’re a first time visitor to Ghana.Written 2 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
