Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited this temple an hour before sunset to catch the last light of day reflecting off the golden Buddha statues. The views of the city across the water are wonderful and the environment is perfect for meditation.

Having visited several religous sites during the TukTuk Tour and alreay feeling hot and tired,
I was turned off when sevral staff approached us as we got off our tuktuk. They insisted that we take off our shoes as we walked towards the temples. The ground was hot and I did not feel like walking barefoot all the way to the entrance of the temples and their interiors.

I briefly took pictures of the exteriors of the temples, the gate, etc. and left in a hurry. Perhaps, I’ll visit it again in the early morning and set my mind about walking barefoot. May be NOT.

This was the very first attraction that we visited during our tuktuk tour of Colombo. The staff were friendly and were busy cleaning the buildings when we arrived. Shoes have to be removed, baskets are provided for their storage. Entrance fee is 400 LHR.

There are many statues of Buddha on display at this attraction. Some are with colorful, bright yellow and orange color schemes.

This Chabad House provides incredible hospitality for those needing a synagogue, kosher food, or just a community away from home. Was there two years ago and chose to come back this time even though was staying quite a way away: I booked into Cinnamon Red across the road for weekends just so I could eat and pray at Chabad! Rabbi and Rebbetzen Maidanchik are absolute stars, and their hospitality is amazing.

After visiting the Khan Clock Tower, we saw this stupa as we drove by. We briefly stopped here and take some pictures. The distancw between these 2 attractions is about 5 minute drive. Not sure whetjer they are open to to the public and where the entrances are located, we left after lur brief visit.

This Catholic Church is located in Borella, Sri Lanka. My wife and I attended a 6:15pm Saturday mass since we have to fly out of SL first thing Sunday morning. The Saturday evening mass is an English service. The priest speaks fluent English so it’s easy to understand him. The church has fans on the sides so if it’s a hot day don’t sit close to the center aisle because you will not feel the breeze of the fans. Unlike many of the other Catholic Churches in Sri Lanka, this one has pads on the kneelers so it’s easy on your knees. It’s January 2023 and there is still no holy water at the church, this is different than Catholic Churches in the USA.
We will visit again some day when we are in SL again.

The Dewatagaha mosque is one of the prominent mosques in Colombo. It's huge and white, the architecture is lovely and beautiful, and we learnt that the mosque is about 200 years old. Its lovely exterior is almost an iconic part of the architecture in the city center in Colombo.

One of the must stop in Colombo was to be at a famous church and since our hotel was near to Bambalapitiya we chose to go here.

This is a old church but has been maintained like gold its right on the main road and has a good manicured and well taken care garden which has good parking space and the chruch itself is big with a parish hall.

A must for the fellowship goers to attend the Sunday service.

    A landmark building in Colombo.
This place of worship is only for Muslims & not for women either.
You can see it from the outside.

The Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara is one of the most sacred worshipping places of the Buddhists of Sri Lanka since it is a site made hallowed by the visit of Lord Buddha. In the past Kelaniya itself was a large city and the Kelani Raja Maha Viharaya was one of the largest and one of the most beautiful temples of Sri Lanka. The temple draws many visitors to explore its eastern architecture, remarkable frescoes and to learn of the many legends that surround this religious site.

This is the one and only center for Sivayogaswami in Colombo. A beautiful meditation hall at a peaceful place. This place has a ground floor for yoga and other activities and the upper floor is for meditation. Well kept and maintained. Clean and spotless. Anybody entering the hall can feel the spiritual vibration prevailing there. Since the hall is away from the main road there is absolutely silence . I like this place very much for the simple reason that this is not a temple but only a meditation hall with a beautiful statue of Sivayogaswami . It is almost like sitting in the presence of Sivayogaswami and listening to his teaching. It is a wonderful experience.
