Dulmini put together such a wonderful experience for us, creating an itinerary she drew up after many discussions about what we like and also gave us suggestions for excursions and activities. It was totally bespoke and we were able to make changes throughout this process.
We had an amazing time and Nadeesha, our driver was very friendly and attentive to our needs. He answered all of our questions and gave us lots of information on our journey around the country. We both said that the travelling became one the best part of the holiday as we enjoyed seeing the changing scenery and the everyday life passing us as we went on our way.
The hotels picked out for us were exceptional. Each one had something different to offer and we appreciated the variety. Staying at Rock Villa was a perfect start to our holiday as it is a beautiful quiet and calm place to relax and prepare for the onward journey. The staff were so attentive and friendly and we enjoyed the tranquility that the small hotel gave us. The food was stunning and we had some of our most memorable meals there. Our other favourite was 98 Acres for the location and wonderful welcome we received. The room was beautiful with stunning views across the tea plantation. Again, the staff were friendly and nothing was too much bother. Flameback Eco Lodge was a wonderful experience and very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed being so close to nature. We arrived at Aliya Resort and Spa on a rainy day but the facilities meant that we had plenty to do. We played table tennis and pool until the rain stopped and enjoyed the buffet as a change for our evening meal. We took part in the free yoga classes and swam in the huge pool. Hotel Landissi in Galle, Clove Villa in Kandy were lovely colonial style small hotels with beautiful rooms, and delightful staff. Jetwing Beach at the end of our holiday was a great location to unwind and relax by the pool and beach but perhaps was not in the same league as the other hotels we stayed at but very comfortable none the less. The staff were lovely and we enjoyed staying there.
The excursions were great and we enjoyed seeing so much culture, wildlife and the amazing landscape of Sri Lanka. Highlights were the two safaris, the train journey, the cookery class and the visit to the tea plantation and factory. We take home so many wonderful memories of Sri Lanka that we will talk about for many years to come.
Thank you so much for organising such a fantastic holiday for us. My wife and I spent 10 amazing days in Sri Lanka for our honeymoon, and Lush Sri Lankan Holidays made sure everything was absolutely perfect!
We stayed in two incredible hotels - Vista Vie on the south coast, right by the beach, and Wala Kulu in the hills. Both were just stunning! Great food, super friendly staff, and the team at Lush Sri Lankan even arranged some lovely surprises for us, which made the trip even more special.
Everything was smooth and stress-free from start to finish. I crossed the island from West to East, and back. SLCH team designed such an interesting tour for us! Thanks to them I've been to Buddhist temples, I climbed on Sigiriya rock, I went to jeep safari to see the elephants, I saw how spices grow in a spices garden, I made a boat tour and went to a traditional dance performance in Kandy including fire walking. Not to mention that I was travelling with my two kids. SLCH made the tour so comfortable for us - we had a very careful and thoughtful guide. We stayed at wonderful hotels, all of them had big swimming pools which was highly appreciated by kids. And we had a good combination of lazy beach rest with active sightseeing. He quickly got the hang of what we enjoyed and was happy to change plans to include things we were interested in. We would thoroughly recommend him. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and our holiday was a perfect mix of culture and relaxation. - amyszocsWakefield, UK5 contributionsI can't even begin to express how wonderful Jaya was. He was the best part of Sri Lanka. He organised everything perfectly, found the best spots and knew the perfect time to see areas, he helped us see so many important and amazing things in the limited time we had in Sri Lanka. I can't express how wonderful he was. He helped both my boyfriend and I with all activities, he suggested amazing things, helped us barter on prices when appropriate.
He knew all the history of all the areas we visited, helped us dive into the Buddhist history and explained the reasons behind all the temples we saw.
He was proudly referred to as my Sri Lankan father by myself. He helped me learn 20 words in sinhala (mainly animals) and we would practice in the car.
I cried when he left us for the last time. He showed us a side of Sri Lanka I don't believe we would have seen without him. He is very knowledgeable about the country and it’s history, he provided us with good guides at places we visited and nothing was too much trouble.

Gihan our guide and Manoj our driver (and guide also!) were beyond fantastic. Gihan and his team were always there on hand if we needed any recommendations of where to eat or what to see and their attention to detail and ensuring that we were looked after and happy was 100 percent.
We were travelling with our 3 teenage kids and the holiday was brilliant for them and us. The right mix of adventure and the magical with great hotels. I particularly loved the fact that Gihan walked with us and guided us up the massive Lions Rock and kept the cheeky monkeys away from my daughter (who wasn't a fan of them trying to steal her coca cola!). We really enjoyed Manoj and Gihan's smile and support every day.
Gihan and his team definitely know the ins and outs of the country and really do find the hidden gem boutique hotels (the first hotel - our room was the size of a house!). And they can tailor to your needs and are flexible - so any budget of hotel they were able to sort for us.
A great and safe way to embrace an amazing country. One day we are in Kandy at the temple of the Buddha's tooth (a truly magical experience in the evening time), the next we are up in the tea plantations at nearly 7000 feet and the following day we are watching a leopard on a safari up close.
You can do as much or as little as you like - but we really loved the flexibiity of the air conditioned van as a base to drive us to all these exotic places you would never reach on your own (or very easily!) and a new fantastic hotel every few days. Loved the stunning views from our Tea plantation hotel and the infinity pool on the roof of the hotel in Mirrissa looking out to the beach opposite.
I loved the fact that Manoj ensured we all got on the tourist train from Nuriya Ella to Ella without missing it and protected us from the melee. I've done many back-packing travels in my day - but much preferred combining adventure with comfort and that element of safety for the kids.
Gihan got us a local SIM card when we arrived and we used watts app for all our comms - which made things really easy both before travel and during. It's easy to get money out at ATMS in Sri Lanka and really stunning place to visit. I would highly recommend Ceylon awaits for that special bespoke tour to your family.

Alokhya planned every part of our trip after consulting with us about our preferences and the type of holiday we were looking for and they couldn’t have done better! A huge range of activities were included in our Alokhya package in addition to the hotels such as entrance tickets, experiences, sport activities etc. It made the whole experience more relaxing knowing that these things were sorted and paid for in advance. Although the schedule was meticulously planned, Alokhya were always there to make adjustments to weather changes or our preferences on a given day. Due to lack of time we could visit Stilanka only for 5 days but wanted to cover a lot of places and Volata travels made it possible for us. They laid out a very detailed iterenary for us and were very flexible with any changes that we wanted to be made. The accomadations they provided were excellent.
