We were here on an early Saturday morning. It was quite busy but in a good way. People were walking, exercising and sunbathing as well. Our hotel, Berjaya was right beside the beach and we had an over-bridge to reach the beach from our hotel (there was a train track under the bridge). There were a few restaurants that were literally on the beach itself.

It's a fairly long beach. There were some watersports activities happening. I remember jet skiing. Although, we didn't do any.

During our tuktuk tour, we briefly stopped here to take some pictures. It was quite hot, like 90 degrees when we visited, so just a brief visit here. Will try visit again late in the pm to enjoy its views and ambience.

Nice shops, bars and restaurants are there. But I felt that all are formal rather than live and buzzing happy go lucky atmosphere is missing.

After visiting the Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, we visited this attraction. There is a statue here infront of an old structure with beautiful mouldings. Some locals were noted chilling out here. Another big white building is in the vicinity, perhaps the Assembly Hall. Took several photos here and enjoyed our visit.

Accross from the above structures is a wide open field where locals are practising their games.

I noted the presence of both the new and old parts of Colombo here: For the old parts, there are the Clock Tower, the Memorial, etc. For the new ones, there are the modern commercial buildings such as the Twin Towers Banks and Government Offices.

I enjoyed my visit here. Highly recommended to visit it!

This was a must visit in Colombo for us. The tours are small and the guides very well informed, some of them having spent time with Mr Bawa before he passed away. It appears as though everything was left in place since that time. This is a charming and eclectic home that gives insight into the mind of Mr Bawa.

Although the tour confirmation suggested we could pay in USD it appeared this was not the case when we arrived - just FYI. We paid in SLR.

A colonial period square with huge open space in the surroundings. Arcade mall on one side, a completely colonial style building with a few high end stores, was almost deserted on a Saturday. There were a few families in the independence square who were jogging, exercising, walking and kids were playing. Do visit if you have time, nothing spectacular !

Beira Lake is a lake in the centre of Colombo. The average depth is 18 feet and it is surrounded by many large businesses in the city

We spent 14 days travelling Sri Lanka with our four children. We had an amazing time. We were so grateful to have Iiyak as our driver, such a nice man but most importantly he kept our family safe on the roads. He is a very good driver. Iiyak organised everything we wanted to do, helped with purchasing tickets, even dropped off and picked up laundry for us. Nothing was too much trouble. He was especially good with the children. After a couple of weeks he was like part of the family. The vehicle was also in good condition. We would definitely use this company again and highly recommend Iiyak as a driver!

We had an excellent experience with Your Driver Sri Lanka on our recent trip, and couldn’t recommend them more highly.
From my first inquiry Chami was always very quick to respond in WhatsApp and answer any questions to help get our itinerary planned. This excellent communication continued throughout the trip. When we slightly changed our plans to include an extra day trip this was organised quickly, despite it being at the last minute.

Our driver Dhanushka was fantastic, and we don’t think our trip would have been the same without him! From the moment we met him at the airport, we learned so much about the country from him. We really enjoyed our conversations in the car with him. He was an excellent guide as well as an excellent driver. He was always on time for our pick ups, and always knew some excellent sights to stop on our routes to see as much as we could on the trip, including some that were not as well known so we were the only people there. He gave us a guided tour of the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy which was interesting and informative. On a few of our days he took us to some restaurants for lunch, and the food was always fantastic! He also arranged some snorkelling and surfing for us, both of which were excellent.

YDSL, Chami and Dhanuska really took all the stress out of planning such a big trip, and we can’t thank them enough for making our trip to Sri Lanka so incredible!

Someone canceled and this person gave us tickets for free just to be kind. Never have i experienced this before, so you know what person you are dealing with. A kind man that want you to have a good time instead of your money

I was in Sri Lanka for a holiday but was travelling around the country so had very limited time in Colombo. I knew I wanted a teal sapphire ring so set about researching, looking for a reputable jewellers and came across Salies. I contacted Isam via WhatsApp in advance of my travels with a bunch of photos of the types of ring I liked and a request for a teal sapphire and they did the rest. They sent me various options of ring designs and sapphire colours, along with costs for each type and we took it from there. They were very patient with my decision making, insisting that I must love whatever I chose.

In the end, I selected a beautiful teal sapphire with diamond accents, set in white gold. Isam and Shazi were absolutely amazing when I was delayed reaching Colombo from Galle, and kept the shop open late for me, and made sure I was totally happy with the ring and that the fit was great before I left. I am thoroughly in love with my new ring and would not hesitate to recommend Salies and if I am ever back in Colombo, I will more certainly be paying another visit to their beautiful store.
